I just get on the skipping rope, give my limbs a little shake off, get on with the sprints and then start my boxing. And I'm always ****ing injured.

Not so sure that is true.

World Class athletes swear by deep tissue massages and stretching. So much so that there is a lot of time doing these two things.

Being limber is key...especially as you increase your weight and especially as you get older.

Guys can get away with not stretching. Even the Great Bo Jackson in his heyday didn't stretch. But after he was injured he admitted the incredible benefits of warming up, stretching and so on. You just don't realize it until you see the comparison.

It's obvious Floyd has declined over the years. Now could stretching his muscles slowed down this process? We'll never know. But he does look stiffer and less agile. Not as smooth.
    Aging is a ***** though.

Floyd says a lot of things and many of them turn out to be lies. He loves to play mind games with his opponents.

you see guys warming up all the time by moving their arms and shadow boxing, whirling in a circular motion- warming up is really kind of like stretching. I stretch before every work out, and after runs or leg exercises too.

Fastest, strongest, prettiest, stretchiest - I swear by stretching and always will. If I need to drop an ax kick on somebody's shoulder, I'd rather stretch it out first. It helps my jump rope consistency and my jumping and one handed pushups if I stretch before hand or I will get some shoulder tightness and cramping.

different strokes for different folks, but stretching sure helps me. someone can be strong and flexible. as long as it's not TOO flexible.

Sometimes I think so and sometimes I just don't know how much is true and how much is for show. Only way to know is to be on the inside.

At the same time it can be smart to throw your opponent off in what you are really doing...play that character...but on the other hand, if he is trying to set an example, it's bad. But, you gotta do what's best for you...and that's something all should know. So he could be bluffing.

That said: We tend to assume a World Class athlete would take all the advantages he can but then you hear of other athletes that do some similar things...NFL and NBA players have a mixed bunch. Some still are stuck in what they grew up with: Fast food and just playing the sport despite the advice of the team.

Allen Iverson is an example. From the rep he got, true or not: Fast food eating, pot smoking, no practice kind of freakish athlete. And there are many others that follow suite.

But then you have others that train and practice hard but still don't do everything they could. They still eat poorly (compared to what is recommended) and don't take all the advantages they could.

And then of course you got the guy that will take all the advantages he could and that's what people tend to expect.
