Hopkins actually DID have a dislocated shoulder. What part of that do you idiots not understand? Get a life.
It happened before the Pascal fight imo. It seem to really got up ahead of steam when he beat Pavlik, as many seemed to perceive he was done after the Calzaghe fight. Fickle ****s. Before Hopkins beat Pavlik fans used to refer to him with disdain, calling him bore-nard Hopkins etc, yet he beats Pavlil, racks up another few wins against Pascal, and now they wont hear a bad word said against him.
He has extra ordinary skill alright but I think he's been beating guys not his size for quite some time and now he became an actor of his home weight division to win a fight.
I respect his achievements, and the fact he has remained competitive at the elite level well into his forties. Howver I have never been a fan of his style. I prefer fighters who fight with only their fists and boxing ability and don't need to resort to holding, spoiling tactics and dirty stuff to win. Guys like Calzaghe, Vitali, Pacquiao. To me what Hopkins does is like kicking someone in the balls in a street fight, desperate krav maga type ****. In boxing knowing how to cheat and bend the rules seems to equal being crafty and a smart boxer, and guys like the ones I mentioned who can dominate simply fighting fairly are frowned upon for their skills. It's an odd world.
Looks like Bhop is finally finished. But at least he's had a great career, a true ATG no doubt. I don't see Chad coming close to what BHop has accomplished.
I think he did fairly well. If he'd have won tonight that quite arguably could have been one of the best victories of his career. I think he'd still beat some of the belt holders out there at 168, 175, Dawson just happens to be a quality fighter at the peak of his powers.
I have always been a fan of Hopkins he is a great fighter. Even tonight he fought as good or even better then the other guy. Maybe Dawson did enough to win in some people eyes, but that was no great victory with him losing the 12th round even. I accept the Dawson win but in my heart I know he did not really beat Bernard.
I've been a fan of B-Hop since I was one-and-a-half in 1990. I'm almost 24 now, and am still a fan of B-Hop
Big fan. Sad he lost, but if he can't outsmart the best, I think both he and the fans would rather him retire than go on.
