How do you know that Mitchell can't stagger Welliver, particularly if Welliver is on the inside trading punches?

Welliver doesn't have Spoon's power with the right hand, so I can't imagine he'd hurt Mitchell. Welliver also lacks Ibragimov's boxing skill and experience.

Assuming this September fight comes off, Chauncy may prove "made to order" for Mitchell: a little hitting, wide open, volume puncher who keeps himself within Mitchell's danger zone.

Tune into HBO in September to be proved wrong Kenmore. Welliver is much better than all of the fighters you talked about. After he whips Mitchell's arse he will prove it. Those 2 failed and Chauncy will succeed. Team Green is Team Welliver. Printing benjamins as they run over Seth Mitchell on the way to the Klitschko Brothers.

^ I can't tell if ur serious or not...

Wha in particular makes u think welliver is sub a world beater? The guy beats on cans, and has lost to every credible opponent he's faced...

Behind the scenes, Welliver is on par with many of the top HW's of the last decade. His gym wars with these men is why he was the #1 sparring partner of the last decade. He can handle being beaten on by the top men...not for 1 night...but for weeks at a time. He shows up to fight and he is extremely durable. None of these top champs have been able to put him out of commission over the years....and he was an out of shape guy for 7 of those 10 years. He is now a dedicated and hard core in shape guy.

You people severely underestimate Chauncy Welliver if all you know about him is his boxrec resume.

    Bull****.

The sparring sessions don't mean as much as you think. I know of numerous instances in which an inferior fighter has whipped or even KO'd a better fighter in sparring. Sparring is flukey.

The only way Chauncy will get legitimacy is if he fights and beats a half-decent fighter in the ring, in a real fight.

  6. Let me set the record straight. The current HW champion was KO'd 3 times in his career and knocked down by Samuel Peter 2 times. Seth Mitchell did not get dropped,he did not get knocked out. Seth Mitchell showed that he has a good chin,a strong mind and loads of heart. Oh and by the way,Chauncy isn't half the puncher that Witherspoon is. I like Chauncy but he has very little power. Seth's stock went up in this fight. We can now safely say that he has at least a decent chin and loads of heart in his arsenal.

So Seth said something about having a potential opponent for Sept on the telecast, but did not mention Chauncy...now where is your source this will probably be Chauncy?

On when we can expect to see him back inside the ring:

“As of right now, officially July 5. Against who? I don’t know. There are lots of names being tossed around, but none that I can really say because nothing is solid and I don’t know where they’re at in negotiations. But it will definitely be one of the bigger names. I’m 100% ready. It will be in New Zealand, my adopted home, so I’m going to fight patriotically for America because the fight will be on American TV on the Monte Barrett-Shane Cameron card. But I’m going to fight patriotically for New Zealand as well. So I’m going to be very ready because I will be competing for two countries. I’m absolutely ready for that, but another fight that was being talked about was Seth Mitchell. Now that one could very much hinder the fight in New Zealand, and that would be fine and dandy because I would love a fight with Seth Micthell. Seth Mitchell I think is the next great American hope, but I think he’s not there yet. I think he’s too green right now and I think now is the time for me to fight him because I think I can beat him. He’s a young, strong, very physically able guy, but I think I would outsmart him. Now with the fight being talked about on HBO and Golden Boy saying it’s as good as done once he’s done with Witherspoon, but we have to wait for them to give us paper in order to get excited about it.”

Chauncy, Mitchell has terrible stanima. Avoid the early onslaught and he gets tired easy. Then you can out work him. Go for it.

    Mitchell is overhyped.
