    It was clear that Hopkins was past is absolute best in the Robert Allen, De La Hoya and Eastman fights. Against Eastman in particular he looked absolutely terrible and every bit like a man approaching 40, so when Taylor sneaked two decisions against him in his next two fights it was no real shock to me.

    Moving up in weight obviously helped and rejuvenated Hopkins, but how anyone can argue that he was still the same fighter he was circa 1995-2003 is beyond me. Fact is Hopkins lost to Jones when he was 28 and then didn't lose again until he was 40+, and even then the outcome of the Taylor and Calzaghe fights were debatable.

    You have to take into account the fact that the mw division wasnt exactly overloaded with talent during that time
