It is not me but Bernard is cool and prepared for the assault cause this guy is coming like a freight train and without thinking. Chad has been mind washed by Scully and you also prepare yourself for the train to go out of the line. I will keep my promise though. You are not to be blamed for anything that I may feel in or on the aftermath.
Yes I do acknowledge that beforehand and like the tune from Coldplay "The Hardest Part is Letting Go" so that's why your headlines get my concentration trembling.
"Hopkins for me looked like the better fighter, he looked the better condition of the two fighters, and was clearly technically the better fighter. He could of won the fight if he let his hands go more, Chad Dawson looked unfit and fatigued, his legs where like jelly he looked really skinny aswell compared to last fight......but he did more work, and let his hands go more. His jab, and share size coupled with his basic know how to spin off some of Hopkins attacks won him the fight.........but for me Hopkins could of won the fight, if he just lauched more offensive attacks"......
Well, this is the first time I can see your being objective about it. I thought so too in the beginning but even the condition he was in, his age has finally caught up to him. His legs don't have as much zip in them anymore and like you just said, his workrate is lower. Either way, I thought Chad won the fight too. He;s the first fighter since the Roy Jones fight in 93, that I thought beat Hopkins decisively, so he deserves credit for the victory.
He just isn't as good as Dawson as it stands today...he doesn't have power, so he didn't even have a punchers chance. Hopkins only hope was the fight being stopped by "accidental foul" and by some chance two judges have him up on cards. He was overmatched in this situation, he couldn't open up because he got hit when he did. It literally went exactly how I said it would.
I disgree that Bernard Hopkins does not have no zip anymore. His movements where fast, and sharp. He was making a big fighter in Chad Dawson, 6"2 long light heavyweight miss at times. And you don't do that by being ****ing slow. Bernard Hopkins looked strong physically, was strong on the inside grappling etc. His footwork and movement was better than i have seen anything Andre Ward do, Bernard Hopkins was in serious shape. But Bernard Hopkins made a massive mistake last night. He did not commit to offensive attacks, and for me this is why he lost the fight. When you are not boxing one demensional fighters, like the Felix Trinidads, like Kelly Pavliks. When you cannot dominate your oponents with your skills and ring iq alonge, you have to commit to offensive attacks you have rumble. "Chad Dawson all night long commit to his offensive attacks, some of them where messy, but he commited to them and let his hands go" We all know Bernard Hopkins can box, we all know he can fustrate guys. And last night he did box Chad Dawson well, he fustrated Chad Dawson and bullied him on the inside. But he did not commit to enough heavy sustained offensive attacks, and its why he lost to Jermaine Taylor twice, and its why he lost last night. Bernard Hopkins is arragont with his ability, he wants all his fights to be schoolings, pot shot guys to victory, and having little attacks here and there. Sometimes when you enter the ring with a oponent who understands the sweet science like Chad Dawson, you need more than that..? Even though Dawson for me, was fatigued and tired. He was not falling for some of Hopkins tricks, he was also making Hopkins miss, Hopkins like i exspect did not really use the jab. So what Bernard Hopkins should of done was commit to more heavy sustained offensive attacks. Nazim Richardson, was saying to Hopkins that Dawson was tired, i want you to pressure him........."Which Hopkins did alittle bit more, but seriously..? Did he leave it all in the ring..? No I don't know weather Hopkins is scared of runnig out of gas, i just don't know. Muhammad Ali could box, but he also knew when to really rumble, Lennox Lewis could box, but he also knew when to rumble, Evander Holyfield could box, but he knew when to rumble, Larry Holmes could box, but when he knew when to rumble. "I don't think Hopkins, wants to ever commit to really rumbling, to really committing to sustain offensive attacks" And this is why he lost the fight last night, i don't think Hopkins gave 110% effort. There is no way Bernard Hopkins won the fight last night, there is no way..? But he could of won the fight, and thats why i am pissed off. Evander Holyfield could box, could move, use the ring, stick and move. But when he got in the ring with Riddick Bowe, both guys understood the sweet science, you seen a rumble, they understand they need to commit to more offensive attacks..? because thats whats going to win them the fight, when there skills are both nulifiing each other.... "Because thats what great fighters do, they know when to rumble" "The fact of the matter is Bernard Hopkins wants all of his fights to be schoolings, pot shotting guys, out pointing them, fustrating them, confusing them, sharp shooting them etc........but when you get in the ring with fighters who are not one demensional..? i am sorry thats not enough" "Chad Dawson was lucky he won last night, i think he looked unfit, i don't this kid trains hard, and i think he needs to really dedicated 110%, i will still say he can beat everyone from 168-175, if he dedicates 110%"
I did not look deep into it but I guess that the bottom line is that at this level, most of these guys neutralize each other's assaults by almost presenting a countermove b4 the first offensive move is taken. Sort of Calzaghe-Hopkins like a good pal of mine here did acknowledge back then but Calzaghe really showed a lot of heart and he did outwork Hopkins who was completely out in the championship rounds and may have pulled the trick but even so he got tired again or hurt again due to fatigue in the 11th round. This was more of a case of Chad Dawson's mindset being well driven and he amazingly upset Hopkins by following a gameplan with coolness and profesionalism... And Hopkins didn't have a plan after all cause his plan A, plan B, plan C till plan Z, they all depended on Dawson's stance and truth be said, first time, Hopkins doesn't solve someone else's puzzle. All he could do was jab more, sneak counter and body punch which is no plan to win a fight... Never put em together, never really looked to punch back to hurt him bad, only to reset and continue the chess moves. Still, it's very hard to score these sort of fights and 117-111 seems excessive to me.
I agree that Bernard is more interested in proving to himself that he is old school and fundamentally sound and that by itself wins fights than giving the proper respect to other styles that sometimes overcome his like Roy in 1993 and Cal in 2008 but it's difficult to learn when you are getting old and I believe he is as stubborn as Evander in proving this, Evander wants to prove that his God given willpower would KO Lewis like he did finish Douglas so he got frustrated by the end of the very early third round. Well, it is how it is and Dawson was more focused in this all process ever since he was called up by Bernard at the end of the Pascal rematch.
Watched it again, i had... Chad Dawson winning 8 rounds.. Bernard Hopkins winning 4 rounds.. "Hopkins won 2 of the championship rounds, round 10 and round 12"....
