Hopkins still has amazing defense and hand speed but he clearly lost. Most rounds he won is 4 and that's being generous. But the old man is one cagey sob.

Dawson won a pretty clear pretty wide decision in my opinion. BUT

Hopkins is still a handful for a lot of fighters, just wasn't enough to take Dawson.

 

I can't believe what i'm seeing here.

I scored the first taylor, the first mercado, the calz and the first pascal fight to hopkins. I'm not one of these who gets distracted by spoiling attempts.

But hopkins wasn't close to neutralising dawson's attack. Sure he made him miss a bunch of times but he rarely made him pay and he was controlled from the outside for large stretches.

The fight was not close at all. The cut was from a butt and a couple of solid right hands aside, b-hop landed nothing of note.

Maybe i'll rewatch it and see if I can see what people are seeing but from where I sat it was a wide, clear victory with very few swing rounds.

 

there is more of a case to givr dawson a shutout than there is to give hopkins the fight.

there's NO bearing to this myth at all. This whole "he must TAKE the belt" is just bull****. The challenger can win by a single point, and it's a win.

Some of you know that Dawson won atleast 4 rounds by landing 1 shot more than Hopkins. Ring generalship is not relevant anymore I see. All in all I did have Dawson winning slightly.
