What on earth made Hopkins think that he won the fight?

The judge who gave the score 114-114 was completely nonsense. I saw Hopkins raising his hands at the end of the fight and even at the end of the score cards announcement. He knew deeply in his heart that he's gonna lose it, but he just pretended to raise his hands to lure people or to make them confuse. It was the same thing as he did after the fight with Calzaghe. Bull****!

Hopkins knows he lost. . . Hopkins is just being Hopkins.

The difference between this fight and the others is that Hopkins had a legitimate case in the Calzaghe and Taylor fights. I scored the fight 115-113 and I was being extremely generous to Hopkins (was likely a fair bit wider). Hopkins came back and talked to Dawson, though so it's all good I guess.

Lol yeah I gave it to Dawson 116-112, and I was probably being generous with round number 2, which is likely the round that was scored for Dawson on the judges cards who had 117-111 - which was almost certainly the correct score card. . . I thought Hopkins DEFINITELY won rounds 3, and 4. . And almost certainly won round 11, in which he was surprisingly aggressive.

I don't thingk you could make a case for him in the Joey Zags fight, though. . . I thought that was pretty clearly an "8-4" (115-112) fight

Hopkins has too much pride and he's incredibly stubborn. It's part of the reason why he became one of the sport's greats. Plus losing decisively is a new experience for him. Hasn't happened in about 20 years.

hopkins is a sore loser is all i can say. i sayed all of along that i thought dawson would win but i was rooting for bhop. i watched the fight twice and it did not win the the fight by anymeans. i had it 116 to 112 - 8rds for chad and 4 for bop and i was being generous.

117-111 was the correct score. The judge that had it 114-114 should have to explain to the commission how he came up with that score. The clean, effective punching was done by Dawson. And Dawson outlanded Hopkins by a significant number.

I gave Hopkins 3, 4 and 11. And 3 could have gone either way, as I recall. Regardless, it was a very clear win and major performance by Dawson, who needed it.

    I had it 116 - 112

Hopkins doesn't take defeat well. It rubs people up the wrong way but it's been a positive character flaw in his life.

I hope we can all agree that he wasn't scared now. At 47, having just lost a decision on his feet against the number 1 LHW in the world, now would be just as good a time as ever to call it quits.

(He could still beat Cleverly and Cloud)

No i will not agree with that. hopkins finished on his feet because he fought scared and ran all night.
