Normally i'm the 1st to complain about fights not been made that shoud. Like Brook vs Malignaggi. But happy to give Malignaggi a pass here. Brook will destroy malignaggi, no question in my mind. Malignaggi Vs Alexander is a fairer match up
Why would GBP put in their guy (Malignaggi) against Brook when they can put him in with an Alexander, Ortiz, possibly Khan for his first fight at 147? If Malignaggi loses in that one GBP still win.
Well he will do because he's seen him beaten convincingly by Khan and Hatton at LWW and he now has the WBA title. Fact is though if Brook had of took the chance Paulie did and went to that guy's back yard he may have won the title, too late to cherry pick now imo.
LOL! Why would Paulie fight Brook? Really, what does Paulie gain by beating Brook? It does nothing for his resume or for his wallet. Brook is still a nobody in the boxing world.
I agree that I'd be very suprised if PM agreed to fight Kell, however Brook isn't a nobody in the boxing world. I'd be even more surprised if the likes of Alexander/Maidana/Malignaggi didn't know who Kell was. It's not his fault that he is the high risk/low reward fighter at the moment, he just has to keep going and hope that someone gives him that chance. Either that or fight the highest ranked opponents possible and get a mandatory shot.
his next fight MUST be in America next if he really wants a title shot, because now ALL of the world champions fight inside the US, he has to make a name for himself first if he realistically wants that shot, the money will come after that.
Still stepping up his level of opposition and building his fan base. Don't begrudge him a few more learning fights. On the other hand, got to take opportunities as they arrive.
Although the fight makes sense from a Matchroom & SKY POV there is no point for Paulie to go down this route when a fight with Devon Alexander presumably on HBO is in the offing.
How do people see Brook Vs Paulie panning out then? Brook obviouse power advantage, Malignaggi mixed in much higher class. A lot resting on the jabs of both?
Brook will break Paulie down and stop him late. Kell's jab carries far more authority and would land it at will.
Problem for Kell is he is high risk, low reward for all Welters out there right now. I think Eddie knows Kell needs to become mandatory to get a title shot with how things are right now. Kell has a very good chance of this as well because he's ranked highly in all the governing bodies rankings
Seen so many idiots banging on saying "bet Kell and Eddie are gutted they didn't take the fight" ........ Some people obviously don't understand how mandatory defences work!
kell brooks been involved in too many safety first fights, he has never taken any risks. Put it this way if they took as many risks with brook as they did with khan, kell IMO would have a few losses. they'v been matching him with limited opposition.
I have no real issue with how Kell has been managed up until now, I've seen far worse, he seems on the right track now. I really rate him, but agree with those who say that he needs to get over to the State if he wants to get in the world title mix. I think Paulie-Alexander is the most likely next fight, no reason for Paulie to go for Kell instead for the reasons others have outlined. Tough division for Paulie to crack, as all the champions/established contenders can fight one another in the States for guaranteed money and limited career damage if they lose. But Kell is moving up the rankings, travelling to the US is surely the most reliable next step towards a challenge for a meaningful title. Matchroom have shown that they are prepared for their fighters to travel, so it could happen.
