same reason they demanded all the other zombies to be dehydrated when they stepped foot in the ring....so he can have a better shot at winning.

    Any advantage possible.

The worst part about the whole thing is that Arum was also Cotto's agent and equally legally and morally required to look after Cotto's best interests.

Why did Cotto agree to it?

Why did Cotto say he felt fine at that weight.

Why did Cotto make no excuses, yet you have to make all kinds of excuses.

Pacquiao beat his ass fair and square. Cotto was even younger then Pac, fighting in his weight class, against a career featherweight. Get over it.

That's a good question. What was the point of it?

As a Cotto fan that always bothered me.

How could it ever be said that Top Rank ever wanted Cotto to win against the "new super star" who's stock was soaring after that Hatton KO?

Cotto wasn't forced. They requested 143 at start and Cotto claimed he's not doing anything below 145 and they agreed for 145. Cotto accepted it and the fight was on.

He was with Top Rank too so negotiating wasn't going to be difficult regardless.

Forced? That was Cotto's suggestion.....and the compromise was between a Jr WW (Pac) and a WW (Cotto).....they met closer to Miguels weight class than Pac's and it was miguel seeking out Manny, not Manny seeking out Cotto. The reason for any catch weight is to create a more even playing field for the smaller man who is going up in weight to fight a bigger man.

    I'm no Pac-backer...
    but forced?

If he didn't think he could win at that weight then he should never have fought at it.

It was one pound less then Cotto weighed for the Clottey fight if memory serves. Later on Cotto requested a catch weight with Margarito of 153 for the JMW fight...so...but you know all this don't you?

    Sure... with reasonable requests.
    Not with obnoxious demands.
