Which one can put more asses in seats, and has a more "hardcore" fan base? Montreal is a boxing mad city, and I'm sure the people turn out for both their fights, but which one is more "accepted", and has real passionate fans?

Lol, a guy I know in Montreal told me that Pascal used to walk around town with his WBC belt. . . Haha just like chilling, going to lunch, etc. . .

All respect for Bute, but Pascal deserves more respect for facing better opposition

LOL, so anybody from Montreal in here? Can you verify that Pascal really used to walk around town wearing his WBC belt? Haha, not for promotional, boxing related events, but just to go to lunch, watch a movie, etc. . .

Wait until Bute becomes ill a la Terry Fox.He'll be treated like the Romanian beggar he used to be.

It'll be Pascal by the end of the year as he will be the IBF Champion and Bute will be padding the record of Oosthuizen.

Bute without a doubt. Pascal is the local boy, but people from Quebec can relate to Bute a bit more. He's the kind of humble guy that is usually popular around here. Some people love Pascal, while others hates him because of his cocky attitude. Also, he's been injured a couple of years before his fight with Dawson at a time where guys like Bute, Alcine, Diaconu were rising and he fought some bad fights that may have cost him some fans. A lot of people choose to root for only one local guy and I think that Pascal was injured when many made their choice. Only my opinion.

I'm a fan of both personally, they're two of the most exciting fighter around when you think about it. Pascal found a way to make his two fights against Hopkins looks exciting and Bute KOs guy with body uppercut, which is always fun to see.

Is race a factor when it comes to sports followers in Montreal?
    Genuine question.

And btw, nobody in Montreal had better entrances than Lucian Bute!
Eric Lucas not, Adrian Diaconu not, Jean Pascal not..
This says a lot. And before the fights against B-Hop, Pascal had only cheap entrances.

Jean Pascal lives in Canada since he was 4, he is Canadian. Bute not, but he also holds Canadian citizenship. It's Canadian school of boxing!

They are both Canadian. In case you don't know, even the natives are immigrant in America. We have all came from another country. The fact my family has arrived in 1650 doesn't make me more or less Canadian.

Bute is more popular amongst the general public because of his humble attitude and also his boxing style. Bute is rarely in a boring fight, he is skilld and powerful, which is an explosive combination. Pascal's way of promoting his fights is not appreciated by many people.

Both are very populare nonetheless. Pascal is known to be very generous with the fans while Bute is a bit timid at times. In general, Bute sells more than Pascal, for opponents of the same caliber.

Anyway, Pier-Olivier Côté is another one climbing the stairs. He started boxing very late (20 years old) but has a tremendous natural talent. We are lucky to have so good fighters in our backyard. I can see some posters on this thread are a bit jealous.
