Opinions from mates who know nothing about boxing

Slightly against the grain of this thread but I've heard a few enlightened comments from my casual mates

One of them was chatting to me about Fury's defense & how he needs to keep his guard up. Another one said that he didnt rate Haye because his fights are boring & he only uses his right hand all the time.

 

i enjoy watching boxing with my dad when hes half cut, cos we always have a fiver on who wins, cos he doesnt read the form, looks at skill or anything he just goes on looks, if floyd mayweather was fighting some council estate tramp with tattoos on his neck hed go for the tramp cos the tattoos make him look rough. its simply a licence to print money

 

ha ha , im glad my nephew aint one of these dudes you`se are talking about , as he predicted Bellew to KO McIntosh within 6 rds!!

The one that still cracks me up is my mate saying 'are you coming back to sort amir khan out!'

No doubts he's going to be overall unimpressed with my career achievements at it's conclusion.

Slightly off topic I remember a self proclaimed boxing coach telling me that I was going to walk amateur and probably professional boxing 'just like Tommy Hearns'...

My missus likes fighters who throw 'power bombs' 'Them punches were you throw them from far back punches', She feels Tony Bellew doesn't throw enough power bombs. I showed here McIntosh and she sat there and laughed..

Not exactly my point to be honest. You can find something funny without pushing someone away from the sport. My mates ask me questions all the time and I explain to them and when they say stupid things I disagree but I'm no boxing historian and only got into the sport myself over the last 2years really so I'm not alot better.

I know nothing about football but I watch it sometimes, same as rugby but talk to my more knowledgeable friends and ask them questions but don't say this teams going to breeze it or say stupid ****.

 

Yeah my missus was for a while till she saw build up for Clev-Bellew and Cotto-Margarito. She actually remembers names to her credit but power bombs ain't cutting it for me :-(.

Some idiot i used to work with claimed Carl Froch is dog shite and if he ever fought him he would knock him out. Saaid all his victories were flukes and everytime he had a fight coming up he was getting knocked out, cos he has a putty chin. This guy is supposed to be a boxer and always had a fight coming up, but it always got cancelled at the last minute. A guy even turned up to watch him and he was not even down to fight. Used to stand there ****ing shadow boxing looking a right dick. Didnt know that I have boxed and I didnt tell him cos I did not need him telling me all his wordly advice!!

 

I try talking to mates about boxing but the last time I did one of them was convinced paquiao was KO'd margarito!
