being a contender hailed as potentially the next great american heavyweight who didn't lace up the gloves until well until his 20's, and who happens to still be in his 20's, I personally think, completely debunks any idea that equates boxing to learning any form of classical music. Seth Mitchell's meteoric rise shows that, the current american heavyweight landscape is bleak enough that you don't have to be a life long pugilist to have a slightly higher than moderate level of success. that isn't the case with any of the music you chose to equate to boxing.

physical gifts and atheletic talent count for a lot. but there some things that in boxing that are just so instintual that you have to have started at an early age where it becomes muscle memory. mma is 99% is killed or be killed which is why there times i feel like somewhere in between rounds whatever game planned a fighter had it just goes out the window.

thanks. there are exceptions like foreman, liston, and some old school fighters where there wasn't much amateur system, and maybe mexican fighters. but i always think back to when lampley said, "if you didn't start this sport at 12 it's a little late." and that poster that said seth mitchel, sorry but no he's not an exception.
