Why aren't JMM and Shane getting Pac/Floyd attention

THey both lack personality.

 

Marketing.

 

management. not so much on the promoter side. On the actual Managerial side.

 

Why would anyone want to watch Shane now? He's shot to pieces but surely he has more left than he brought to the Mayweather and Pac fights. Embarassing...

 

Paulie hasnt fought the big names and when he did, he came up short. Additionally, he lacks the promotions and punching power...You have a mother****er like shane who has done it all but when he was coming up, Oscar had the lime light so shane wouldnt even have the personality to compete and marquez doesnt speak english so that doesnt help him either.

 

floyd and manny are literally the only two boxers that matter in the american sports media. I'm watching the nba playoffs on tnt. In the last half an hour I saw a manny pacquiao hennessy commercial, and an advertisement for mayweather-cotto.

 

Mosley is shot. In his prime, he never developed a strong fan-base fighting out of Pamona.

When Marquez's career was first developing, he was being denied opportunities (and squandered a few) while being out-shined by stylistically aggressive and flashy fighters in the division. Though clearly, his fan-base has been steadily growing over the last 10 years.

A large part of it is marketing; Pac's style made him a safe bet as an investment, and Mayweather's fast rise and Olympic past ensured him a following. With the right promotion, they can make quite a few fighters look like dominant competitors to varying degrees.

 

Mosley is too dull. Black guys have had too much success in boxing. A good Black fighter isn't going to get support by default like say a Mexican, Rican, or flip. Those people are amazed and satisfied simply by seeing one of their own do well in boxing. They need to bring some personality to the table to go with it.

 

Its like Chubby Checker claims...he said cassius clay asked him what he needed to do to be noticed and Chubby to him to be loud and cocky as much as possible, in and out the ring. So most non African American hated Muhammad Ali, but now they love him. The same will happen to floyd down the line. As good as tim bradley is, he will never reach that level because he is just an ordinary guy who can box. Nothing about him makes people talk...hell his name isnt even unique.

 

Ali and Mayweather talk their trash in different ways, I suspect Ali will still be looked upon more kindly, but you're right in that it's key to their success.

 

It's about timing, the predilection of the fickle masses, right time/right place bull****, etc..
