[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQlS7589ex4[/ame] My 3rd favorite fighter of all times behind Lewis and Calzaghe Dariusz the ****ing tiger. Laying the BEAT DOWN on lil montell look at this. This is the #1 reason Roy Jones Jr is a fraud and do not deserve to be in the HALL OF FAME. What Roy did witH Dariuz is the equalivant of what Bowe did with Lewis A modern day example is say there was a prime lennox lewis in the HW right now. but he ducks Wlad. That is Roy Jones or if there is a prime Lewis in the HW right now and Wlad ducks Lewis.. That is Roy Jones To a degree this is like Andre Ward ducking Bute but I give Ward a slight pass because he hurt his little hand. H2H Dariuz will literally make Froch-Bute-Dawson-Hopkins-Ward- and Kessler his little daughters For those of you who are actaully boxing fans you all know what I'm talking about. Oh and the answer to this poll question is NO Roy could not
Competitive bout between Virgil Hill(with injured foot) against Dariusz: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebjGUNMYJWg[/ame] Total destruction by Roy: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nKE8LME4sQ[/ame] Savage war between Richard Hall and Dariusz: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmjzG3FXwos[/ame] Total domination of Richard Hall by Roy: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-1qzWVmGmU[/ame]
Roy COULD have beaten DM and Roy probably WOULD have beaten DM, but it is not the foregone conclusion many observers make it out to be. DM could have given Jones some problems. It's a shame they did not fight some time between 1997-99.
It's ironic that Roy Jones fanboys will come in and tell you that 'Roy was the greatest, he would have dominated him'. Yet in reality, Jones in his prime was reluctant to face guys like Benn, Collins, Michalschewski, even though they all called him out and were willing to travel to the United States. It's a shame Jones didn't share his fanboys confidence. Credit to him though, Jones did look impressive beating up that sanitation worker and mail-man.
Roy would have beat him...would have like to see the fight...neither guy wanted to fight in the other respective country, but when you are a world champion, you can fight anywhere in the world...both had their reasons...Dariusz thought he wouldnt get a fair shake in the states, and Roy had already been screwed out of a goal medal in a fight he dominated in Korea. Style-wise I think Darius would have had a harder time figuring out Jones awkward style and dealing with his speed and elusiveness...would have been compeititive because Darius was a big Light-heavyweight very good jab, and had a very good body attack good combos...only thing that would be at his detriment is his defensive poster and with that peek a boo style Jones would have an easier time anticipating his offense and also throwing and landing showy combos to pick up points...I say Jones would probably win a close fight by like 2-3 rounds no domination but a clear win:good
here we go again...cant put all the blame on Jones it takes to to tango...also dont diminish his accomplishments like that....the guys you say he should of fault he accomplished more than them in his career respectively... as a fan hell yea I wish those fights would have happened but its so many politics in boxing we dont know, its not fair to point the finger at one guy...What Jones did do isnt anything to sneeze at...he is the only guy to ever win titles at 160,168,175, and a belt at heavyweight ....their resumes dont stack up to his so if you are criticizing his competition, look at theirs and do the same, if not appreciate what they all did, not what they didnt:good
The fighters that I mentioned all called Jones out, were all willing to travel to America, and Jones found excuses not to face any of them. Throughout much of his career, he was a paper champion, he never beat a single unified, lineal or undisputed champion. I'm not diminishing anything, those are facts, what's irritating is his fanboys glorifying wins over the likes of Derrick Harmon and Glen Kelly, when he should have been fighting guys like Eubank.
That belt didn't count Roy can go wipe his arse with that belt There was only one ****ing TRUE HW champion and that was lennox lewis so unless Roy maned up and fought Lewis instead of Ruiz. He didn't win **** and cannot be considered a HW CHAMPION He also blatantly ducked Nigel Benn a shot as **** Nigel btw.. I mean Roy was scared shitless cuz Nigel put his best friend Gerald in the hospital [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGz-unNi1dU[/ame] ya i know this was sad as **** but that could have been Roy if he fought Nigel that night
How can you can you criticize Jones when Darius is the only one who ever was a unified lineal champion...Nigel Benn, Steve Collins, Eubank never were lineal champions either you cant put all the blame on Roy As much as you are down playing Roy Jones resume and competition these are facts: 1)He has beaten more champions than any of them and by alot, 18 wbc, wba, ibf, 19 if you include the WBO 2) won more titles, 3)beat more hall of famers so its really not right for you to **** on Jones like he never did anything when he has accomplished more than them...I wished the fights would have happened but they didnt...he did accomplsih more than them though and will be remembered for that
Jones arguably never beat the man in any division he campaigned at. You want to talk about Jones' time at SMW? Roy Jones defended his IBF 168 title five times, three of which weren't even ranked in the top 10 at 168 at the time and another was just a 'blown-up' Lightweight. He never fought the other World Champions (Benn, Eubank, Collins, Liles).
they didnt fight him it goes both ways, dont ignore the facts trying to validate a shallow argument...he fought better competition than they did in their careers and accomplished more as well....besides each other who else did they beat or fight? Eubank beat 5 champs...Liles beat 4, Benn beat 3, and Collins beat 2 and lost to all the rest If you wanna nitpick on who they didnt fight...they never fought Jones, Hopkins, Toney, or Nunn(liles beat him past prime tho) who all accomplished more and will be remembered as greater fighters As much as you are down playing Roy Jones resume and competition these are facts: 1)He has beaten more champions than all of them combined, 18...19 if you include the WBO 2) won more titles, 3)beat more hall of famers
