Just to get rounds in I guess. Smith fought Brook x 3, Cleverly, Barker, Burns, John Murray, Jennings and Rees and was never stopped.

 

Maybe Smith, as limited as he is, exposed a flaw in Brooks work and his coaching team wanted to work on it and measure their progress by taking on the man again. Who knows?. What is apparent when looking at Kells record is just how slowly he has been brought along....it was years before he was allowed through the ropes within anyone with a pulse (Buckley excepted)....After 8 years as a pro he should probably be further down the track by now

 

he wud hav probably took the last 2 fights at short notice cant see them making the fight 3 times unless it was needs must and ring time for kel. happens alot late pull outs so its a case of getting someone in late regardless if u fought them b4

 

I think at that time Kell was on the chocolates and not really as serious as he is now.

 

I think the 2nd fight was arranged to see if an improvment could be noted and the 3rd was as a result of Smith's "have gloves, will travel" attitude when an opponent for Brook had pulled out.
