I was there live and I couldn't believe my eyes, Bute won every one of the first 11 rounds and, to gas like that at the end left the whole Bell Center speechless...I still have flashbacks about that moment and wonder if he would have stayed down, were would we be today. Probably here anyways, but with a loss on his record instead of being undefeated. He will now complete his task to be the top dog at SMW, if Ward takes the fight and after that, up to LHW to close Pascal's case and face the likes of Dawson and Cloud and company. Good stuff, can't wait for May 26th....:bbb

Hold up ,did that quote say a champion gets up when he can't ,what about when the ref allows you to take as much time as you want to get up when you can't big diffrence there !:hey

it has nothing to do with the fact that he was knocked down, do you get that? it concerns the questionable way the fight ended, the fact that bute seemed to survive only as a result of the referee, and the fact that the referee didn't administer a count when he should have, electing instead to hamper librado andrade.:bart

Now, many fans will say, "rewind the point where bute fell, and administer the count for yourself. you can see that he got up within the limit." that's neither here nor there. administering a count as a fan, someone who never refereed at the top level, shouldnt even be necessary, and it shows, at the very least, that the fight's outcome was highly questionable.

I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of Andrade-Bute 1, a lot of elite fighters lose along the way to the fighters they shouldn't have, that doesn't mean they are bound to be bums forever because that of one unfortunate loss, add to that Bute has avenged the loss brutally by KOing the guy in 4 rounds and has improved a lot since then, this really shouldn't be mentioned anymore imo.

and this is why a rematch was given.i don't see anyone here bitching about Hopkins first fight with Dawson anymore, they had a rematch.

hopkins-dawson 1 and bute-andrade 1 are two totally different fights. the first of them, not even being a fight. i'll leave it at that.

it should be mentioned when the original poster clearly looks to mislead others by saying lucian bute has dominated every opponent he has faced. that is the case, but when you say something like that, it's totally suitable to bring andrade-bute 1 into question.

ok,bad example.Mares vs Agbeko I,the referee literaly helped Mares to get the belt.then they had a rematch,he won fair and square and now nobody complain about how he get that belt in the first place.

andrade was badly dominated in the first fight too.

    better comparison...

but it's not unsuitable to question the first fight, regardless of the outcome of the second fight.

ehh, I wouldn't say badly. he was coming on. he walked through everything bute dished out ala a prime antonio margarito, and we all know who was flailing about by the end of the fight.

    :deal

I find it laughable that folks seem to think that the first Andrade fight offers some sort of irrefutable blueprint of how to defeat Bute.

The kid had won--what, 9 out of the previous 11 rounds? :-(

Similarly the same folks act as if the second fight never happened. So, in aggregate, Bute won something on the order of 13 of the 16 rounds fought between the two, including a devastating KO.

well, not in this case. I personally think bute has improved since that 12th round fiasco. On the very same token, I'd like to see him face a top SMW before proclaiming him best in the world, and I will see that very soon.
