I see a lot of posters on this forum wanting Mitchell to fight Wlad next. To me that is absurd considering his lack of experience. HBO may be hyping him, but in my opinion his team is bringing him along the right way. Two or three more fights versus fringe contenders and than a couple against legitimate top 10 opposition, if he keeps winning he should be ready for a shot after that. If he loses it'll be back to the drawing board and we'll know he wasn't ready for a Klit anyway.
Well his team has been saying he wont fight for a title until 2013. They have been saying this for 6 months now yet everyone seems to think he;s fighting Wlad in the fall. Wlad is gonna fight Arreola after Thompson and that's that. Seth will fight again in September against maybe Michael Grant.
i thought it was odd that he KO'd Timur a real contender who was very experienced and has good wins and then they stepped him back in comp and faced an easier witherspoon it always alarms me when prospects take a step back ill have a better answer when we know who he wants next I think he should face another guy about the same level as Witherspoon and if he can beat a guy like that without the struggle he had with chazz he can move up a Wlad fight means hes being rushed to cash in a step back in comp means they arent confident
thats a good move, id suggest all prospects and contenders to fight tall guys to prep for Klitschko if i were his team id have him fight Dimitrenko as well
Like I said in another thread, imagine Wlad fought Lewis when he had 20-odd fights. He'd get so badly beaten that he would never be the fighter that he is today. Lewis would possibly have ended Wlad's career. Mitchell is in that position right now. Put him in with Wlad and he'll get schooled and stopped. He's just not ready for that type of challenge at this stage of his career.
I like how they're matching him, actually. I think the last two have been in good, solid territory. Not likely to beat him, but not likely (despite the actual easy Ibragimov result) to let him go without giving him valuable experience and an increasing profile. I think he's doing very well and will continue to, if they move him along as they are. So he got rattled by a big, more experienced guy he was strongly favoured against? How many don't, at some point?
They're doing a great job matching him up. Evans Quinn.... Timur.... and Chazz. Nothing wrong with that level of comp considering that Mitchell does not have the extensive amateur career of some guys.
Damn, my page was taking long too load, then jolted as i went to vote, meant to vote 'no'. I think he's coming along nicely First round against Chazz was a good test.
I like Mitchell. He needs more seasoning and probably a world class trainer to take him to the next level. I got the feeling from Steward that he would love to take over Mitchell, if he wasn't in so deep with Wladimir.
