How impressed were you with Hopkin's defense against Dawson?

Dawson was dropping his right hook on B-Hop rushing in all night and the left to the body was finding its home all night. So I can't really say I was impressed with BHop's defense, either he was out of range waiting to rush in with his head down or he was getting touched to the body on the inside and eating uppercuts.

 

It's crazy to me how little mention Dawson's straight left to the body has gotten. He was able to control Hopkins with it the way most boxers control opponents with their jab.

 

One cut was caused by a headbutt that was clearly accidental. If anything, it was more dawsons fault then hopkins. Dawson was coming forward and his head hit hopkins head. The 2nd one was a clean punch. I thought dawson won the fight but hopkins landed the more solid punches. This fight showed that hopkins can compete with anyone and not take any punishment. Why should he retire when its easy money?

 

This fight came down to the ref. The first 3 rounds he was allowing some holding and hitting before he broke it. After round 3 he allowed no infighting what so ever.

 

Hopkins wasn't doing any infighting. Hell Hopkins tried to jump out the ring for a reason.

 

Count me in as impressed.

Not a huge Hopkins fan but there's no denying he's special.

 

Clearly you watched that fight with X shaped glasses if you think Dawson initiated that headbutt, or that Hopkins landed the more solid punches. How's BHop's **** taste?

 

Hopkins put on a defensive clinic. He caught and deflected lots of shots, rolled away from others.

I was impressed.

 

Good eye IB! Connects to the body rarely get mentioned or even credited by either fan of judge.
Dawson landed several solid jabs on Hopkins stomach and it played a role in the fight.

Same thing happened in Marquez-Pacquiao 3, Marquez had a beat on Pacquiao's midsection with his jab, but it never got a mention by the HBO commentators.
