Chavez beat no one elite... and got a controversial draw against Whitaker who in my mind tapped Chavez's ass 9-3 easy.

Wow. honestly. I think Floyd handpicks, but Oscar,Shane and the titles make it about even. Chavez was great and deserves to be higher on the ATG list than Floyd, who has names but didn't fight guys as prime as Chavez did.

Chavez did get badly outboxed by Whitaker(I had it 10-2)...I think Floyd was more dominant in big fights and didn't show as many weaknesses.

When Chavez got put in with an elite fighter in Whitaker, he couldn't do ****. What makes you think Chavez would do well if he didnt only fight trashcans.

Out of curiosity MAG, why do you think Floyd handpicks? Who do you think he avoided and when?

Chavez undefeated streak is a bit weird....its none they got rid of one loss, they screwed Whitaker out of a clear win, and when I watched that Masterful Taylor fight I was so sad as a kid, to see a great young fighter get a win he earned taken away with two seconds left.

Honestly his resume was a bit of Quantity over Quality....he had some very good wins but the same thing they hold against Mayweather should be considered when analyzing Chavez' run...he never beat any prime great fighter...in truth neither he nor Floyd did yo be fair...Chavez defeated 14 world champions/ Mayweather beat 16 champions....Mayweather won titles at 5 weights/Chavez had three....in my eyes they are pretty even, but if I had to choose I's go with Mayweather because they started at the same weight and Mayweather showed he could compete at a world class level past 140...he won titles at 147 and 154 and the win over a Large DLH who I think Chavez would have never beat is noteworthy....Mayweather by a hair but I wouldnt go so far and say that his is more legendary..

...He beat more champions, won more titles at different weights, and clearly beat everyone he fought(Castillo 1 was close but he showed class giving the guy a rematch and winning), and did it in almost half as many fights gotta be noteworthy.

Mayweather at 42-0 is the greatest undefeated start to a career in boxing history, in my opinion. So, naturally, it will be a better run than Chavez's.

its hard to go against a legend like chavez but I have to say as time goes on and Mayweather keeps competing at these higher wieghts, the more and more he deserves to be ranked ATG or p4p higher....he beat more champions and has held more titles....Many consider him the greatest junior lightweight ever, and thats saying alot when Chavez was a champ there

Viva Chavez still one of my all time favs but ATG-wise he gets boasted a little too high...alot of quantity over quality same way trash Mayweather you cant go 87-0 without fighting no names and club fighters

Mayweather outboxes Chavez Sr easily about 10-2.
