    I think the same.
I think this fight looks very like Mayweather v Hatton with Mayweather smothering Cottos work and picking him off. Then stepping it up, Cotto goes into reverse and gets battered.

Agree.......Cotto is not stupid and is a total pro when it comes to big fights. He'll play this one loose and not take any chances like Ortiz did. I think PBF will have some bruises at the end of the night but will come away still undefeated.

This fight will be like Gatti mark 2...

I agree with the opening analysis - comepletely spot on. The more aggressive Cotto is, the bigger the ass whooping will be.

I can't see any way Cotto can win this fight, I like the guy, but I just can't see how. Not a one punch knockout artist and a come forward, square on fighter, just spells disaster against PBF. Outmatched in every department.

Rico actually stated a real good point, THIS version of PBF is actually way way worse for Cotto because he'll stand with him in the middle of the ring and lay off the skates. Cotto's best bet is the skates and lose by UD.

    9th TKO for me.

You think Floyd Mayweather Jr. hits harder than Miguel Cotto?

Good analysis. Not only will PBF dominate Cotto, but he'll school Pacman if the fight ever happens.

Your not the first to mention this....is this based on the fact you feel Floyd will preform like never before or is this more geared towards cotto and gatti being close equals interns of ability, skill, talent and ring iq?

Cotto's power is overrated and PBF's is underrated IMO. He might in fact hit harder than PBF but the difference in power isn't much.

Agreed, a recent comparison would be the jmm fight and the fact that Floyd didn't emphasize to much on going for the while I believe cotto would have eventually stopped him. The difference is not stark but I'd give cotto the power factor and Floyd the shock factor catch my drift.

    Hey man...

Cotto is a few levels above Gatti, that's for sure. The problem for me in essense is simple though, SPEED. Not only speed in hand but in foot speed.

Cotto throws lovely combinations, is heavy handed and is a very good all round fighter, but he is TOO SLOW to trouble Mayweather. He has a great jab, but it will be countered easily IMO.

His square-on fighting style is also a disadvantage IMO as he is in range to get hurt head and body by Mayweather. Square-on means your there, right there, ready to fight. For me, absolute disaster against the best offensive and defensive fighter you've fought. The speed difference will be HUGE and in range, I see Cotto getting beat up badly.

I could be wrong of course, as boxing throws enough suprises. I can only see Mayweather getting beat one way, an absolute hail mary lucky punch, that's it. Maybe Cotto can dig a body shot in and close the show, I dunno, doubt it.

That's what happened to Mosley. He thought 1 thing about Floyd and when he stepped in the ring it was something else completely. I think Cotto will be shocked with the pop and precision of Floyd's punches on top of his physical strength. All the while getting countered at every turn.

    This could get ugly.

I think its the thing Mayweather opponents struggle to deal with most. Im not saying it's his best asset, its not, but its the surprise element to it.
They are expecting his quickness and speed, they are expecting his acuracy, they are expecting him to be difficult to catch, but they are mentally prepapred for that.
What they arent prepared for, is how hard he punches these days now he sets his feet, and how physically strong he is.
Hatton, Marquez and Mosely all felt his power and strength early, and it totally threw them off.

I think so too, or at least he hits more correctly which leads to better power punches.

Cotto's left hook to the body is the single best punch between the two though, likely.
