People. EVERYONE living in the US is in the top 1% of the planet in incomes. ~80% of them will die broke or damned close to it. It just is what it is. A working man with no understanding of money who comes into a temporary flood of cash will almost always go broke. Always.
He owes IR 3 - 4 million dollars I believe. http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/Roy-Jones-Jr-back-taxes-040711 Hot off the heels of Floyd Mayweathers $3.4 million debt to Uncle Sam, it was revealed Thursday that former four-division champ Roy Jones Jr. is also having problems with the IRS. According to The Detroit News Tax Watchdog website, the 42-year-old Jones owes over $3.5 million in back taxes from a $629,085 lien filed against him on March 21 with the Santa Rosa County Clerk in Florida and a $2,946,650 lien filed Feb. 11, 2008, in Santa Rosa County, claiming failure to pay taxes from 2003 and 2004. Jones is scheduled to get back in the ring, May 21st against cruiserweight, Denis Lebedev in Moscow, Russia.
He can't be...made so much. I would think he paid for most things in cash. It just does not make sense.
If i had 3 million dollars to spare I will build a time machine and drag a prime lennox lewis into this current era
If it's true that he's really broke, it's not making me surprise at all. All of you see what he's doing now, don't you? He still keeps on fighting and getting knocked out instead of hanging them up. What does this suppose to mean?
i answered you, you just chose to not acknowledge it there are 2 different kinds of broke the average ESB poster broke an former millionaire broke.... one means you never had anything and live week to week by pay check the other means you live off 200 grand a year as opposed to 25 million a year if roy is making 500 grand a year and watches his spending, thats what some consider broke considering he was making 5-10 million for some of his fights.... 500 grand a year is alot of money, but not much compared to 25 mill a year....
I doubt Roy is getting 500k from HBO. . He's probably getting a healthy little six figure salary, no doubt. US taxes are actually one of the most friendly systems in the world, especially to athletes. . . It was a shame what happened to Louis, but when you spend like that, and don't keep up with what you owe, it's bound to happen. . . I think they should have cut him a break because of what he did for the troops overseas during WWII, but it is what it is - he was treated no differently than any other citizen who doesn't pay their taxes. . . During Louis' era, the taxrate was A LOT higher for athletes making that kind of money, than it is now, though.
