Thanks for posting. I thought this thread had died a quick death. I've always been a fan of this knockout. It looked as if Buster died that night. This content is protected GIFSoup
he was a bit of a sadistic bastid at points. i hear he felt real bad for chuvalo when people told him fairly recently that he broke his orbital bone.
that was more brutal than the foreman fight in my opinion. just slamming his fist over and over into that concrete skull of chuvalo's
Buster Mathis,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Nailed 'Smokin Joe' more than few times with his 'pillow powered' right hand,,,,,,,, And if he had a little more power in that right hand,,,,,,,,,,,,'who knows'
Buster Mathis had alot of physical talent and tools. He had coordination for a bigman and was light on his feet. Bus just didnt like to put in the work. He stepped into the ring against Joe Frazier at 243lbs. Bout 15lbs more than he needed. One guy {Joe Frazier} you gotta drag out of the gym...and the other guy {Buster Mathis} you gotta drag out of the kitchen.
Loved the way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Buster Mathis handled 'Smokin Joe' in Round 6,,,,,,,,,, Great workmanship,,,,,,,,,,and a pretty nimble man on his feet for his size. Snapped Joe's head at least '6' times in that round. Scorecards after '6' Rounds,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Referee; Arthur Mercante..........5-1-0....Buster Mathis Judge; Jack Gordon..................4-2-0....Buster Mathis Judge; Tony Castellano.............3-2-1....Joe Frazier
