Chavez liked to keep active. He was always busy. That is kind of the point in a way.
Going unbeaten that long required him to never be off his game, always have enough motivation to 'get up' for lesser fighters, and even a lesser fighter can put you on your backside if you're not careful. It's happened countless times in the sport.

Floyd's run is no joke either...I'm not trying to take anything away from him.
If you think about it though, he'd literally have to fight another 45 times and remain unbeaten to match Chavez' mark. Even against tomato cans, that would be difficult, imo.

 

Chavez fought ALOT of bums, and as a result is was ballooned up when he fought a contender.

He's over rated, the Mexicans can say whatever they like.

Roasario was a brilliant win, I can't take that from him, but Pea embarrased him and when he lost to Oscar he was over the Hill?! Dude was like 31.

He's not as great as people make out.

Age has nothing to do with it, A lot of people lose their primes early, especially if they fight those many fights. Look at Cotto alot of people think he's shot and he's about that age and less than 1/3 the fights also look at how young dias retired

 

It's impossible to go 87-0 without fighting trash cans.

Overall, Mayweather has a better record and is greater than JCC. He has beat more champions, more hall of famers and has more titles. Mayweather is arguably the greatest ever at 130 (the arguments mostly point out Mayweather and Arguello). And Mayweather performed better at elite level, almost without weaknesses. JCC looked vulnerable.

The rest of the guys he fought, its like a 2-1 ratio of good to can.
