It was 1mil over three fights for Khan and there's your benchmark for what a mayweather fight would cost
Boxnation is awesome :happy:happy:happy They could get so many more subs if they could phone a book instead of that payment wall shite.
I'm happy with the channel and have mostly defended it. Although they need to stop putting a permanent advert on screen for certain fights. Typical complaints about BoxNation: (1) They repeat fights like Cleverly/Bellew, and Cotto/Margarito, all the time. Who cares? I don't get BoxNation as a channel that I'm going to be watching every day. I get it for the live fights. If you feel like watching a repeat, great, it's there for you. If you don't feel like watching a repeat then you can just ignore the channel until they have something new. (2) It hurts boxing because of the smaller exposure I doubt it makes much of a difference. We are talking about one promoter moving away from Sky. It isn't like Sky gets great viewing figures for boxing or has given boxing a high profile. It's quite possible, imo, that F.W. can still build up fighters. What BoxNation gives the fans is a lot of fights that wouldn't get coverage in the UK without them. Maybe channel 5 can boost the sport's profile in the UK if they pick up Hatton as well as having Hennessy, but free TV is only going to do so much. Sky is only going to do so much. We need BoxNation, or at least some other subscription channel, to get good coverage of the sport in the UK.
Good points and I agree with you. Yes they do repeat alot, but that doesn't bother me as long as there is a constant stream of new material (which there is). If you don't like the repeats don't watch them, it's better than a static screen with the Boxnation logo being shown! I really think it would help Boxnation if they did some sort of highlights show on free to air terrestrial television though. Perhaps the 'That was....January/February' etc would be good; they already have alot of the material on free to view during the day, and post highlights on Youtube, so I think the increased exposure would be fantastic promotion for the channel.
Yeah, if they could get it on, say, ITV4, then it would be good advertising for them, and probably help the profile of the sport.
I presume you can record the fights using Sky+ if you subscribe to BN ? Im also thinking about paying a tenner and trying it out for a month ..
