how well can Mayweather cut off a ring? Will he be able to get the job finished if Cotto goes into survival mode and rides the bike like he did in the pacquiao fight?
Floyd doesnt know how to cut off the ring...he takes one step to the side, and SHAVES off the ring...he slowly walks to ya...go watch the 3rd round of the Ortiz fight, after Floyd throws the quadripple check left hook, Ortiz's offense is shut down, so Floyd goes on the offense, and walks to him...Ortiz ran across the whole ring
Here's a good example of Floyd cutting of the ring: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7qTUtMeAwk&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/ame] :good
If he hurts Cotto, he will get him out of their....Mayweather seems to have a chip on his shoulder and has been putting more behind his shots as of late than he did when he first moved up to 147....he can cut off the ring pretty well, not necessarily the conventional way but he has very good footwork and is always in a position to land whether the aggressor or on defense
Floyd is not going to ever press for a knockout unless his opponent is just so badly hurt that he feels no threat at all from him(or a scenario like with Ortiz). If Cotto starts backing up against him, Floyd will still fight cautious, but do just enough to win. If he hurts Cotto, Cotto will have to be completely gone for Floyd to go for the kill. Very likely this fight goes to a decision.
He's efficient at cutting off exits (Judah, Mitchell, Ortiz) but we've never seen him do it against a mobile opponent who could turn laterally consistently. Forget about survival mode, can he corner a Cotto that prepares to offset his aggression with counter-punching?
