I have no concrete figures, but some reports list him as having over 100 MT fights (not at all uncommon a figure of course)

He also took part in some of the infamous Muay Thai tours around Asia. I have an account of him fighting a taekwondo black belt who had apparently killed a man and was pretty feared. As all of the Muay Thai Vs Traditional Martial Arts tournaments the Thai's came out on top. Muangsurin, known for being a strong puncher, actually finished this fight with a head kick.

    An extremely tough man.

Pepe, again, filling in the gaps for Moreno has been of massive help to me. The Muangsurin part of my book will now be much better for it ;-) You'll receive an acknowledgement, admittedly with a Helluva lot of other people :D

I can see the chapter heading already: 'The Fight To The Death'

    Watched some Muangsurin fights.

Damn he makes Khaosai look like Saldivar.

With his Thai boxing stance and weird waving arms he looked like Edward Scissorhands against Ishimatsu.

He did some kind of Ali-shuffle against Ishimatsu and Furuyama looking almost as smooth as shoulder rolling SNV.

Muangsurin was a Slick Thai G.:smoke

He even danced a bit between rounds against Furuyama - Saensak definitely had the swag.

Against Sang-Hyun Kim he ate punch after punch only to march forward like Terminator - talk about toughness!

And of course his KO of Barro is highlight material.

Does the footage of Muangsurin winning the title vs Perico Fernandez exists?

What you see on YouTube is everything, it saddens me to say.

Slow of hand and foot, poor co-ordination and often off balance...and yes the high held hands that do not lend themselves to defence at all, and often telegraphed blows.

He was just nails and punched holes in people with amazing stamina. It's worked before and worked again, and I also agree he's the crudest of the top end Muay Thai converts

Speaking of Ali, only hear say but, supported by a picture I cannot source from a Thai news report on YouTube on Saensak, supposedly Muansurin challenged Ali to a fight when the great Heavyweight was making changes to the proposed Inoki fight. The aforementioned picture is of a respectful statesmen of the two, I can only assume, in Japan.

Again, Muangsurin was nails. Hearns in his Welterweight days smashed the **** out of him, and like a Thai zombie he kept getting up, even getting stopped on his feet in a beating akin to the one Hearns would later put on Cuevas and Duran.

He'd smash Amir Khan into little pieces if he was about today that's for sure ;-)

I can live without Greb footage but no more Muangsurin?

    Why god why?:|

    Ali ducked Saensak!:bbb

Hearns fight was brutal - I thought Thai was gone after the knockdown in the 3-rd round but he got up and tried to come forward throwing punches.:admin
    Heart of steel!

Muangsurin vs Maidana would have been fun while it lasted - Saensak stopped Ishimatsu with just a couple of bodyshots.

I'm disappointing in Muangsurin's supposed iron chin, watching him getting blasted out with one punch in one of Flea's Youtube videos :huh

He did take an absolute drubbing for 13 rounds!

AND he was up bang on the count of ten. Even caught with a shot like that (lovely shot from Kim there) and he tried.

That was before the Hearns fight don't forget. He took bombs from Monroe Brooks as well, as I said before that seems to be the fight that dented him somewhat.

He'd had hundreds of fights and had made what, seven defences in a year going into the Kim fight? Have faith Russ' and believe the hype: Muangsurin had an iron chin :D :good

Rios, Valero, Maidana, Torres, Urango, Holt, Katsidis, Corrales, Castillo all very fun fights over 15 prime for prime with same day weigh in's. If favour Muangsurin over the best versions of all of them, albeit in some close ones and with him getting knocked around (by Castillo the most I imagine)

140lb Hatton and Cotto: he'd outlast them over 15 for sure.

The ultimate ten stone fight for me: the crudest bangers from the Orient: Paul Fuji Vs Saensak Muangsurin :yep :bbb

Pepe: any chance of a thread on Jo Kimpuani? I have highlights of him Vs Mamby, and Muangsurin also fought him.

If not a thread, maybe in this one? :good

You do know your boxing - slickfest all the way!:mj

I'll go with Saensak as a more durable fighter between the two.

I only know of Fuji being frustrated against Locche....in all I've seen of him, he rarely looks hurt, but I don't know of any punchers he fought either.

Muangsurin beats him to a pulp!:ko

Personally I don't like the fact that he was stopped against Locche - sure it was totally one-sided and Fuji took many punches but still getting stopped by "hands of stone" Locche is not very good thing at all especially in comparison to beatings Saensak took from Hearns & Kim.

By the way do you happen to know what does Muangsurin nickname "Boonsong Mansri" means?
