The TS is right, but we shouldn't blame Floyd for being a very smart businessman. I do see the point that his huge numbers are not because HE is a draw but because of the promotional machines that he affiliates himself with. Truth be told, Pacman is a way bigger draw by himself than Floyd.

I would second that....Floyd is the only man to give out free buffets, free rooms, and free limo rides from the airport to his fans if they buy his fight. Can Pac do that? I don't think so.

Its called marketing; why do you think brand new movies premiere on Friday Night, why do you think the sales for the week are in the Sunday paper, Why is it that when you go into the grocery store the items that are on sale are in the front.. ITS CALLED MARKETING

You couldn't possibly believe the biggest attraction in Boxing owes all his marquee success to Mexican Independence day, Cinco De Mayo, and Saul Alvarez co-main events.

Do those factors help Floyd Mayweather, of course they do, but his marketability isn't depend on that alone. If that was the case why have 24/7, or a press tour, better yet why even fight another proven box office commodity.

Mayweather fought Ortiz and Marquez in the middle of September.

    They love Mayweather.

I agree at the time DelaHoya was the bigger draw. But Mayweather should get some credit for the numbers also. Not to mention he sold the fight very well with his entertainment on 24/7. So just as you say Mayweather did not bring those numbers in alone. Neither did Oscar.

And well I think the fact that he does fight GBP fighters should be taken into consideration as far as his involvement with DelaHoya. But the guy is the current PPV King. He does benefit from having a Canelo on his card, but take Mayweather off that card and its not selling half of what it will if Mayweather was on it. He has a partnership with GBP, and he thanks them after every fight I've watched in recent memory. But numbers dont lie man, in recent years Floyd has been the PPV king in boxing.

And the Gatti fight was actually the first pay per view he headlined if im not mistaken, so 350,000 buys isn't that bad.

I do think Oscar played a huge part as acting as a springboard to superstardom to both Pac and Floyd, as he helped Hopkins become mainstream, but Hopkins tho didnt enjoy the same ppv numbers as Manny and Floyd. Hopkins did take bigger risks, but I think his style at times I think hurt his ppv sales.
