My fistic colleagues, may we thank the boxing gods for this complete Saturday of fights! Once again, showing how boxing is a true international sport, we have fights from Germany, to Ireland, all the way to Singapore, and of course in glorious nation of USA!

As a yank, I will be watching the card in Germany around 4-5; the fight in Ireland around 5-6; and finally, the "Ring Kings" card from 9-12.

A highly anticipated rematch of a very close encounter between these two top rated CW's is sure to provide another quality, competitive fight with nice periods of "two-way" action. Look for a similar outcome, with the similar result - Huck takes a close, and possibly controversial 12 round decision.

Probably my most anticipated fight this weekend (even more than the featured event featuring one Floyd Mayweather), as we get to see one of the best HW prospects taking on one a very dangerous, and very adept HW. Conventional wisdom seems to favor Pulev in this one, as the light-hitting, but speedy Eddie Chambers was able to lay out a perfect blue print, down to the hundredth of an inch, on how to beat Dimitrenko. However, is Pulev fast enough to get inside while avoiding damage? Can he get off fluid combinations like Chambers? Or does he simply have too much power, where he won't even have to worry about scoring points round after round? This one is picking the upset here - look for Dimitrenko to prevail on the cards in a hard fought, competitive (rare these days) HW fight!

    - Not really much to predict here; question is, can Stieglitz STOP the rugged Hamdan? This one doesn't think so (Hamdan only been stopped once in the 12th by Abraham). Look for it to go the distance. Stieglitz dominates a one sided fight, maybe a tricky moment or two due to Hamdan's ruggedness, and determination.

Ah, Chop Chop continues with what is his equivalent of a "world tour". Fighting all around the world to take on each country's premiere boxers. Look for a competitive, very technical, but also ugly fight here. Could very well have some decent moments of two-way action. Look for 'Closkey to take a clear, but closer than some may expect, 12 round decision.

Won't go too much into detail, but expect Mayweather to survive what will look like tougher moments than they actually are on the ropes, to cruiser to a 12 round decision. He will snap Cotto's head back violently a few times, round after round, winning a 117-111/118-110 type decision, as Cotto convinces a few judges he won more rounds than he actually did, by simply being "aggressive", and letting the hands go while FLoyd rolls, and catches on the ropes.

Outcome is pretty much a bygone conclusion in my mind, but what I'm really interested in, is if Alvarez can stop Mosley. I don't think so, as I believe Mosley will realize his one last claim to fame before retiring will be he has never been stopped. Look for a slightly dull fight, with Canelo doing just enough to win about every round. Sorry fellas, no "throwback Mosley" from Vargas in this fight.

The second fight of a very WEAK UNDERCARD. Not much to this fight - little "two pound" Forbes is way above his head here, especially at this stage, having been stopped in his last fight (although controversial). Look for Forbes to find a way to survive till the final bell in a dominating, "meh" fight.

Televised opener in what could have been a MUCH better, more complete card. Very weak opener. Quintana still has some tricks up his sleeve, being a sleek, somewhat fast southpaw. But Latimore's athleticism, and youth see him to a boring decision in this televised opener.

When wilL Chris John step up his competition, and be the boxer/puncher he has the potential to be? Zzzzz. . . Chris John UD.

Really wish I could see Villanueave take on Yordan. This could be a ******* of a fight. Yordan is a lot better than given credit for, especially after his dreadful performance in his shutout loss to Caballero. These Indonesian dudes are tough, and can fight like crazy when need be. . . And this is a HUUUGE step up in class for Villanueava based on former competition. . . I'm going with Villanueva in a HARD fought battle; he'll suffer some cuts, maybe even get floored, as he adjusts to this step-up in class, but ultimately he'll find home one too many times, and stop Yordan late.

come on my fistic colleagues! the boxing gods bless us with these cards, and we need to honor by breaking them down!

just figured i'd make one thread to briefly break each fight down, and give your prediction. . So it'd be a lot easier to see all our predictions in ONE THREAD, rather than finding each thread. . .

we can give more detailed breakdowns in separate threads devoted to each fight, but here just briefly synopsize, and make predictions!

Huck should beat Ola, close but clear. I don't think Ola will ever win the big one and Huck will feel like he has a point to prove after getting robbed with Povetkin. People have been worried that Huck won't be the same since losing the weight to come back down to CW which is ridiculous. He's not melting off pure muscle like Jones did, he just added a few pounds to his natrual weight. It's not an issue. Huck UD

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about Dimi or Pulev. I really can't stand HW's.

Stieglitz wins by UD. Simple keep busy fight, and I think he'd of beat Groves by dodgy decision too. He's sound technically. Solid but not spectacular, and the guy he's fighting really has no offensive chance. Full 12 and probably a shut out decision.

Corley has more left than people think. Paul makes every fight he's in look awkward, and now he's fighting a Southpaw. It's going to be ugly and I expect more than one head but. McCloskey has to keep his focus for the whole fight, Corley can still bang a bit and he's more accurate than Prescott. It's in Ireland so I'm expecting 116 - 112 PM, but I wouldn't be shocked at a Corley KO, I really wouldn't. McCloskey isn't world class.

Mayweather UD. If the fight was in 8's then I'd favour him by stoppage in the 11th. They'll be wearing 10's so Cotto will see the final bell. I'm looking at 9 -3 or even 8-4. Cotto looks very complete at 154 and has enough tricks to make this intresting. Pedro Diaz is the wild card here. I consider him the best trainer in the world. I just don't think he has the fighter to beat Mayweather. (Only guy who can do that, is Sergio Martinez, and even then it's not a sure thing.)

Canelo UD is the safe pick, but I've been trumpeting Shane's chances since before this fight was announced. Alvarez has an awful habbit when it comes to ad******g his feet. He stops defending himself while he does it! Mosley still has his legs, and if he can turn Alvarez, and exploit the Mexican's slow feet and lack of lateral movement then he'll get chances to pull the trigger. Only question is; can he? Watch Canelo vs Gomez, Alfonso took half steps back at angles and landed his right hand, if he could punch then that'd be a very different fight. Kermit Cintron was terrified of Alvarez (Cintron is a mental midget) and he managed to hurt him with a short straight right. Don't rule out an upset. (I picked Hopkins to beat Dawson, so maybe I'm clinging to my child hood favourites here)

Vargas wins a dominant decision. Forbes is too old and the biggest factor here is the difference in physical power. Mayweather's know all about Forbes, so Vargas will be in for no suprises May 5th.

Latimore stops Quintana late, after looking poor early. Carlos is too old and has been for a few years now. Latimore is nothing special, but he'll beat the Puerto Rican.

No comment on Chris John. He never really dared to be great. Brilliant potential, shitty attitude.

    No idea on Yordan.

    2. Floyd vs Cotto; floyd is like always the favourite, but cotto is a tough mf with skills. no prediction from me

    3. dimitrenko Pulev; dimitrenko is just ****, but pulev has no power, so dimitrnko could outbox him, i hope pulev ****s this puss up

Thanks man! I agree with you about Pedro Diaz being hte best trainer in the world. . . I think he is one of the few, if not the only, who is 100% into this boxing game (he's in love with this sport, and has, and still is, dedicating his entire life to it) - he knows ALL aspects of the sport - the latest scientific advances in training, the subtle techniques, and nuances, etc.

I still haven't seen your thread breaking down how you think Cotto could win; I'll use the search function and go to your "threads started."

It's no secret that I prefer the lower weightclasses myself, but I still follow hte HW's because I'm a big fan of K-bros, so I'm always trying to see "who's next" on the horizon. . . Don't think Pulev will be that guy, but he's one of the better prospects out there. . .

I know what you're saying about Canelo. . . I do think he was "practicing" in the Gomez fight for the first 3-4 rounds, though. . Think he was just trying to make some defensive adjustments; see how he can do. I just don't think Sugar man has any of the tools needed to have more than an "outside" puncher's chance. . He's never been really worthy @ 154. . . And Canelo hits hard as ffuuqqqqqq. . . .

And CHop-Chop definitely has more left than your average "washed up name/journeyman." He proved how sharp his technique still is against Maidana, where he went to WORK on him on the inside. . . I wouldn't be all that shocked if he KO'd 'Closkey either. . He's not world class, but he's a solid little boxer.

My learned fistic colleague SJS19, has further elaborated how I think Cotto can beat Floyd (lol, his ideas, of course, but I agree, and have been saying some similar things - he can just convey the ideal "gameplan" better than me). If you haven't already seen this thread, I encourage you read it. . . And remember that Cotto DOES have a chance here!

I'm thinking we might see some upsets.

Cotto is the toughest opponent Mayweather has faced since...Castillo? Everyone else was shot, inexperienced or one dimensional. Cotto is none of those things.

Do I think Floyd will win? Yes. Do I think it will be very close at times? Yes.

Mosley/Canelo - Again, I'm looking for the upset. Canelo has had much less talented fighters light his ass up...recently. He's not bringing a Plan B and his Plan A isn't hard for a guy as experienced as Shane to figure out.

Also, Shane has the speed, experience and Ring IQ advantages.

I think this fight comes down to conditioning. If Shane can push the pace of the fight and slip/counter like he does... I see Canelo losing.

3 PM for us yanks on the east coast :good

But that means the "main event" ('Closkey v. Corley) prolly won't air till around 4-5. . . Not sure who is on the undercard. . .

I'll have that stream, as well as the Huck/Afolabi/Dimi/Pulev stream going at the same time - which starts at 2:30 PM EST :yep

A-yessir! Should be an excellent start to kick off this spring/summer boxing season!

I really have high expectation for Dimitrenko vs. Pulev. . . I think Dimitrenko is a little bit better than given credit for, after being outboxed by CHambers (who also is a lot better than credited for). . . Pulev is a pretty big favorite here, but I think Dimitrenko is going to outbox him.

Ola can win he's a household name in Germany now & he's improved so much since the last fight, I see him winning on points, it'll be a good fight

McCloskey's not that good a fighter, chop chop is...Corley can bang & he's very accurate, if Prescott had McCloskey on ***** street so will Corley, Corley KO/TKO

Mayweather will beat this version of cotto quite easily, the 10oz gloves don't make a difference, mayweather stopped Hatton with 10s on, Mayweather KO/TKO

Mosley still has a very hard right hand & Canelo has a weak chin....but I think Mosley's just showing up for the pay day, Canelo points

    Oh, well let me explain...

    Ortiz - Too inexperienced

Mosley - Too old to make it difficult

Marquez - Too small to hurt Floyd

Hatton - Tough opponent, good fight at times

ODLH - Shot to **** by this time

Baldomir - Shutout. Only chosen for easy belt win. (Baldo just took it from Gatti)

Judah - Good moments in this fight, crazy outcome

Mitchell - Not competitive at all

    Gatti - Outclassed

Bruseles - Close moments, got dominated in mid rounds

    Chop Chop Corley - GTFO

Ndou - Close in moments, but outclassed

    Sosa - Shutout.

Castillo - 2nd fight was closer than all the above..except maybe Hatton and Oscar
