Tyson KO2 in a wild slugfest. Tommy down near the bell of round 1, then brutally finished in the 2nd.
Tyson might eat a few shots but Tommy boy would be KTFO bad like career ending bad his chin was pure glass and I think even a post prison Tyson had better stamina than the "Duke" Tommy wanted to be like tyson he stole his signature combo and had the head movement and big left hook. but no chin at all
I think Morrison last more than two or three rounds here, but I agree he gets stopped at some point. Can see Tyson getting stunned early, and also Morrison getting on his bike a lot more like he did against Foreman. Tyson mid rounds KO.
One thing's for sure. Morrison may have been limited but he'd have had a go. He would n't have frozen like Bruno (fight number two) or Seldon.
He wouldn't have frozen like Bruno because he would drop from the first shot that hit him. Get up, and get dropped again by the next shot. Bruno didn't get knocked down, he just stood on his feet and ate punishment when stunned. Neither fighter was the gold standard for survival skills or durability. Once they got hurt, they were both usually goners just in different ways. Doesn't matter when Mike is coming at you with both hands if you get stopped on your back or stopped on your feet .
If Tommy isn't getting put out by Foreman then he won't get put out by Tyson. Plus Tommy could really bang, had that terrific Left Hook, was as game as they come, and would of took it Tyson. It isn't the whitewash that most think it'd be.
Foreman was possibly the slowest HW of all time and Morrison at points literally ran to victory as the boos rained down. He isn't getting away from Tyson like that. If Morrison was as game as they come, his only noteworthy wins wouldn't be struggles over Joe Hipp and a washed up Ruddock. Unforuantley, this would be a white wash. Morrison isn't much better than Seldon. Morrison is like the 90s Earnie Shavers..but somehow less dangerous and even more vulnerable. Maybe Bert Cooper with better marketing.
I think you're selling Tommy Morrison a little short here. He had talent, good power and speed. He just didn't have a chin, which wouldn't be so bad if his style wasn't so confrontational. He's simply not elusive enough to keep his chin out of the equation and he has a style that is only effective when coming forward. I can't imagine how Morrison wins this. He was a player which is why Don King gave him a $38.5 million 3 fight contract which would have lead to an eventual showdown with Mike Tyson. During the first of the scheduled 3 fight deal it was discovered that he tested positive for the HIV during the pre-fight screening. From there his career was over.
Lol can you say Michael Bentt? If the Duke comes out like that it's over a la Saverese , if he is trying to box like against Lewis he might make it into the second....Morrison is tailermade even for a not on all cylinders firing Tyson.
If Morrison trades with Tyson, then it's Tyson TKO1. Morrison lacks the head movement or chin to last with Tyson in close for more than a minute. If Morrison boxes with Tyson, then I think he could frustrate the rusty 1995 Tyson much like Francois Botha did in 1999. However, in the 5th round Morrison would tire as usual and Tyson would land some big bombs, putting him away.
Exactly how I see it. Virgets having Tommy ready and fighting smart early. But not able to sustain it. Coupled with a far less accurate Tyson in 95 and far fewer combos from Mike make the fight go longer than it should. And I think Tyson gets shook by the guy and gets a little dirty in there and Tommy won't react well to those tactics. Still much rather have seen a Tua or someone not so easy to hit and get out of there to test Mike back then. Where he very well may have had to dig deep to pull out the win. I'm not convinced he has to dig deep against a Tommy Morrison due to the punch resistance of Morrison.
