But you also have to look at another side to it. What some of us are looking at is what an "Independent" fighter can make by doing his own thing. Something other fighters should follow (at some point). If we are paying their salary, I would think many of us would rather that money go to the fighters that are entertaining us than the Promoters who take a big chunk and have to much control.

Other than that, I Agree: I would rather he and other top "Stars" fought for less so the PPV prices and tickets would be cheaper for the fans.

And I would take that into other sports as well.

But if you can get it, go get it. No hating.

I'd rather that the money went to the fighters too. But definitely plural "fighterS" - not just one guy raking in all the cash. I'd like for there to be more money available across the board so more athletic young guys would be into boxing. I really don't care if Floyd is making 50 or ten million dollars - either way, it's still more than I am likely to make in my lifetime.

32 million is coming from where? Who pays him when he actually has to pay himself.

Do you mean that that 35 miilion is outside of the PPV? Are you all *****s ****ing stupid? Who has the obligation to pay him that amount when he is the promoter himself?

32 miilion is what he wrote in the contract he himself wrote to be paid by a person he himself represents, which is stupid because Uncle Sam would be expecting to tax a 32 million dollars income. That is the stupidest thing to do. If he promotes himself, he finds ways to hide his income- otherwise Uncle Sam woould just be to happy to knock on your door. That is why Gayweather is really stupid.

 

He has financial advisers that know what they are doing.

“To explain the business model, [Mayweather business manager Richard] Schaeffer starts with a pie. A little more than half the pie goes to the distributors (Time Warner, DirecTV, etc.). The balance goes to the network, HBO or Showtime, which takes its distribution fees and hands the rest to the promoters.


In this case, Golden Boy has one contract with HBO and another with Mayweather Promotions. But the money, less what distributors and networks take, is under Mayweather’s control; normally the promoter would control it.

That pie is only part of the total revenue, the pay-per-view TV part. To illustrate the other revenue streams, Schaefer pulled a piece of paper from his pocket, a spreadsheet written in 6-point typeface. Drawn out, Schaefer said it would take up two chalkboards, but on the sheet in his pocket, it was boiled down to a formula for how much Mayweather would earn, based on how many people bought the fight and what the other revenue streams brought in.

Those streams include: foreign sales for a fight broadcast in 168 territories; closed-circuit revenues (in 2,000 or so bars and restaurants nationwide, in movie theaters and in rooms at Las Vegas casinos); site revenue (ticket sales, merchandise); and sponsorships. Most boxers would see little, if any, of that money, whereas, Schaefer said: ‘All revenues here are Mayweather revenues. He gets part of everything.’”

 

Because it is good to see boxers that we admire and risk their lives in the ring able to provide a decent of quality of life for their family and loved ones and not be exploited.


We like to read about it because we are happy for them to know their countless hours of hardwork and dedication, pain, blood sweat and tears and how they risk their lives in the ring....it amounts to something.

If *****s are insinuating that the 32 million is the guaranteed amount outside of PPV, who actually paid for that? Because that assumption is based on the principle that even before a single person paid to watch the PPV, there is already a revenue above 32 million and that he still has to dip his hands on the PPV.

HBO's contract only pertains to the HBO right to air the fight, not to actually pay Gayweather an additional fee to air his fight.

I like seeing boxers fight, but i also hate hearing stories of boxers who were on top of the world and ended up broke on the streets
