    Hmmm ...

This has really become a battle of strategies and strategies involving Cuban boxing whether fans admit it or not. As everyone knows, Cotto has employed former Cuban National Team Coach Pedro Diaz to help him beat Mayweather while Mayweather is also receiving his dosis of Cuban secrets from his unofficial Cuban boxing Coach Yuriorkis Gamboa! :yep

So, Cotto has much improved under Diaz's Cuban boxing techniques as everyone saw how easily he beat Margarito because of that. :hey

So the question here is: If Cotto somehow manages to beat Mayweather who would you say that deserves more credit, Diaz's Cuban boxing techniques and secrets or will it go to Cotto?

    :huh

They should both get equal credit.

Diaz for coming up with the perfect gameplan against May, and Cotto for actually being able to pull it off perfectly.

Kind of agree. As a Coach myself, I know that the Coach actually deserves more credit than the athlete as he is the one that has teached, developed and implemented the perfect plan for his student to win.

Both...though since it's ultimately Cotto's responsibility to employ Diaz's tactics successfully, Miguel would still be deserving of the lion's share of credit should he win.

Yeah, you've got a good point.

Diaz should get tons of credit for it, and he would. He'd be in hot demand by tons of boxers, guaranteed.

I read that Diaz is planning to open up a boxing school in PR, this will greatly benefit the PR boxers.

Yes but the teacher is almost everything. An athlete without his Coach is completely lost, specially in a tight battle! ;)

Yes, He's apparently training fighters under Cotto Promotions.

He could help build alot of great careers with his experience and expertise.

I'm very glad he is planning to open one, and I'm sure Cotto is, too.

I would have to say both.

The most important aspect in going in a fight is preparation, training, and developing a gameplan ( as wel as back up plans ). This is where the trainer is doing his thing. But a trainer must have the right fighter who can implement and execute the gameplan as they trained in the gym. Having a good corner to guide you during the actual fight is important as well. But the trainer needs a fighter that can adjust when the trainer needs him to do so.

So they need one another like Floyd needs uncle Roger and uncle roger needs Floyd.

It don't matter how good of a trainer you are if your athlete doesn't have the capacity to properly execute what you are teaching, it won't work.

Duh, come on man. This is a pre Cotto/ Money May Poll.

After the fight there will be a poll called "Who deserves more credit for the victory Diaz or Cotto?" :hey

It's always gotta go mainly to the boxer. . . Because laying out a game plan, and actually executing it, against a boxer like Floyd especially, are two completely different things. . .

But I most definitely think Diaz should get some credit as well. . . The man is a boxing guru. . . He's dedicated his entire life to the sport, and is very passionate about this sport. He understands everything - the scientific advances in training, and the technical nuances.
