Killing time watching some other Euro boxing.

Ivan Fiorletta vs. Jozsef Garai, 6 rounds @ light welterweight.

Halfway into the third now. Fiorletta has been ripping this guy a new *******.

Fiorletta isn't in very good fighting shape (just an ordinary looking guy for the most part - with a saggy beer belly, with folds and rolls becoming evident whenever he leans forward) nor does he seem very skilled, or strong, or quick.

Garai is just a milquetoast, though. Fiorletta is kicking his ass with volume and aggression. Charging uppercuts, crazy wildoverhands. Every sloppy punch in the book.

Garai's strategy through 4 rounds seems to be to back up toward the ropes and wing out a few weak left hooks before covering up and getting dinged around. Maybe hoping Fiorletta - who does look like he's poorly conditioned - will flurry himself out?

Or maybe, it's just that he's a Euro level professional jobber with a 2-3-1 record, even less skill than Fiorletta and nothing to bring to the table.

 

Fiorletta is now just shoving Garai into the ropes and opening up on him, sticking a bunch of right jabs into his guard (yes, Fiorletta has now turned southpaw) and then sending long left uppercuts vine-swinging in. Garai is actually blocking most of it, but isn't throwing anything back and Fiorletta barely ever stops. Garai's got swelling around both eyes. Starting to get rocked around as wild haymakers wash up on his guard. Garai wobbling on his way backward around the ring, but keeps his feet until the bell to end the fifth.
