Also Roy laid down the blueprint to get by Floyd's defense. just look at his fight against Eric Harding. Man I wish boxers would look at this fight instead of trying to figure out how to get by it, the answer is right there.
There's no point in posting in a thread once the chincheckers get into it. Headbanger gleefully posts nonsense, canucks is like 8 yrs old with zero knowledge of boxing but he won't shut up... frankly, they just **** all over everything and make it useless to even try to talk boxing. They're like the fat, drunk guy in a nightclub who can't won't shut up about his elementary school fights and won't go away until you get security.
These calzaghe fans are really crazy man. they dont even like mayweather, they just like calzaghe and are participating in the thread for him.
Headbanger is full of ****.Mayweather fights the best???????? How about PAC? Remember when Toney and Jones were both undefeated and actually FOUGHT eachother? Mosley is freaking 40 years old when Mayweather fought him.JMM was old and out of his weight class. And De La Hoya was a part time boxer and STILL only lost a split decision to Mayweather. For what over a decade at one point Jones had 1 loss by DQ-nobody ever came close in that time to beating him.Mayweather LOST his first bout with Castillo but got the decision. I'm no fan of Jones but man when he was young he was incredible. God he made Maligna look like a ameteur when they fought. Jones beat BOTH Toney and Hopkins when they were all still young.
Hopkins was a great win. He was a bit green, but still a great win. Toney was weight drained and overrated to begin with. Virgil Hill, Reggie Johnson, Eric Harding, and Malinga were great wins. Solid but not great.
Mayweather. Roy was more of a tremendous athlete, whereas Floyd is a great athlete with an impeccable skill set. Mayweather also has a better over all resume, IMHO, although neither guy possesses the championship desire to prove his greatness the way say Marvin Hagler did. Both of them could have made better fights over the years to prove their greatness by simply demanding them. But these two were more concerned about being businessmen then leaving behind a legacy without questions. Fair play, though. Can't really blame either for that.
Resume debate has been done to death. Its obvious that RJJ's reflex defense in his prime was equivalent to Mayweather's more technical defense in their effectiveness but prime RJJ's weapons were nuclear bombs compared to Mayweather's .22s.
Agree with most of what you said, just saying those matchups would have been interesting and would have greatly improved his resume.
