Pac did a ton of great work at the lower weights, but recently he has had a slew of fights dictated based on the size of his opponents and wanting stipulations taking away that advantage.

Cotto and Mosley fight higher weights, we want them at 142 or 145.

Marquez and Bradley fight at lower weights, they have to come up to fight.

IMO it takes some of the glory out of the wins.

What are your feelings on the subject?

again, multiple federations means that a select few fighters can pick and choose their own conditions to fight because the belts really dont mean anything.

its a modern day bargaining chip and lesser fighters wanting their scalp just dont hold the cards to negotiate if they want the fight.

    it'll keep happening

EDIT : when the belts mean nothing the fighters have to crave the notoriety from beating guys like floyd and pac. it's the highest accolade in a fragmented sport

it helps him get his big money fights but it cant really hurt his resume in the modern day way of doing things.

floyd also beat a whos who at lower weights, but post-gatti he felt the love and had sway over where he fought people while he made a heap of gold.

you cant use what pac and floyd do now as a negative when comparing them to past greats because its a different world and the greats from the past would be doing the same thing if they were around today.

If Floyd ends up draining Martinez to 150 I'd certainly hold it against him.

The Cotto(e) fight was a good win.

the margarito(e) fight was one of the biggest frauds I seen in boxing. fight a nobody cheater who has been inactive for a vacant belt at a catchweight

The only reason I didn't like the Cotto bout was that Pac ducked Shane when they offered to fight Shane at 142, Shane called their bluff and Team Pac ran and took Cotto instead.

    I was furious

Everyone knows they do. Even if they don't openly admit it. For Manny to fight Margarito @ 150 Mannyweight pounds, but not Cotto shows what kind of fighting heart he has. In contrast to Floyd's fights where he fought DLH at 154 and Cotto at 154, Manny's catchweights leave much to be desired. The asterisks on his title fights will be factored into his ATG status when compared to the other ATGs from this era. Namely one Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny's a con job.

I think it hurts his resume. The De La Hoya win will be over shadowed by the fact that De La Hoya, who at that point in his career was an old part time fighter with his best days behind him, looked like skeleton against Manny. The fight against Cotto was fought at a catchweight for the welterweight title. The fight against Margarito was also fought at a catchweight for the light middleweight title. Both those fighters were coming off from major losses. There will always be a shadow over his accomplishments against these fighters. He will be best remembered for his wars against Barrera, Morales, Marquez, and his domination over Hatton.

When people look back in the future they gonna be like I never knew 145 was the WW limit, I never knew 150 was the JMW limit. LMAO
