Does anyone think Cotto has as good chance to win tonight?

Depends if his jab and defence prove good enough, he has a very good jab, which can neutralise speed. His trainer has improved his defence. I doubt any of it is enough though

In many ways Cotto is Floyd's toughest fight ... he is riding high in his career, he is the younger man and they are fighting at the division limit opposed to a catch weight ... Stylewise Floyd is nit a huge puncher ... still , even at 35 I see Floyd as hungrier, better conditioned and much faster ... we may have a Camacho-Rosario moment but more likely Floyd dices him up over the distance ..

Good chance 2 win ? no . some chance 2 win ? probably . Cotto is now past his prime and damaged by Margachito and d unnecessary beating (because of d draining that both weakened and slowed him) he endured vs Pacquiao .
Despite it all , he's still Mayweather's most dangerous opponent in his entire career (this is more due 2 Mayweather's low h2h quality of opposition than due 2 Cotto currently being that dangerous , c Yuri Forman) . I hope Cotto wins but I believe Mayweather's elbows and maybe even head will do their job if he feel any threat / pressure / hurt by Cotto .
I also believe that whomever d ref will b (didn't bother 2 check who) he will have about minimal tolerance in case Cotto lands low blows . It will b A Mayweather event , in some1 else's words . Mayweather is this generation's Ali , his talent is praised due 2 it being a talent 2 foul , d black community is fully behind him despite it has other representatives (although currently sadly Mayweather might really b d best black fighter ) and he will go in2 d HOF and will b remembered as n ATG despite he's nothing but . Same with Hopkins and Jones . If u'll force me , then out of these 3 in their primes i pick Jones as d best and with d greatest legacy out of these 3 , as poor as it is .
D best p4p currently r Pacquiao , Marquez and then maybe Froch (Ward is d new Hopkins and Bute has been KOd) . Froch is at least proven as a fighter much more than Floyd is and if Floyd had Froch's level of opposition , he wouldn't have fared any better . "speed , skill and slikkness" look great on film when 1 can showcase them fighting much smaller and older men and b allowed 2 foul when needed (c Jones 4 example , except Jones was usually not a dirty fighter)

If I call Cotto to win and he does, grant me status as the greatest prognosticator the sport has seen.

And when he doesn't, allow me to fade into the background and reemerge to make another wildly fantastic prediction in the future... until I get it right.

Cheers friend. I would probably be picking Mayweather flat out by knockout if not for this wrist business.

    Thanks.

    comprehensive

And not bad, Cotto by decision lower than draw the only real bum steer (I also like a higher shout for a Mayweather stoppage.

“The people who are trying to make an argument for Cotto’s chances, some of it is because they’re fans. That’s the luxury of being a fan. You want to root for your guy and make a case for your guy. But it’s not always based on logic. It’s based on emotion. They may turn out to be right, I don’t know. As much as fans are going to attach their hopes the way you attach a kite to a string and you fly it, they’re going to attach their hopes to, ‘Oh, he’s bigger, he’s stronger.’ I don’t know if Cotto’s going to attach his hopes to it, because unlike the fans, he’s going to be taking the punches."

    Not bad for a change?

Good stuff McGrain, enjoyable read...as was the other one which I never got back to you on (agreed with all of that too, was actually a lot of my favourite moments too)

Floyd can force a stoppage if he wants to. Depends what mood he's in

Yeah, if he fees like it - and two weeks ago just about everyone was saying he did - he could get it done. Now, i'm not so sure. Lots of talk about "The Gameplan" and that. Which usually means, don't get hit.

    I loved that pick.

He`s got a chance. Miguel has alot of experiance and brings some things to the tabel that coud trouble Mayweather.

I wouldnt bet on Cotto. I dont think he will be able to sustain enough to win. I see it an even fight after 6 and then Floyd winning the last part of the fight.

I'd love to see Cotto pull it off. He's pure class and a very good fighter, but I don't think he has what it takes.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd stop him later in the fight. If not, decision. I'm skeptical of the rumors of injury, and I think it depends on Floyd's attitude. If he fights like he did in the 4th against Ortiz and does it consistently, he stops Cotto by mid rounds.
