    Check the UK boxing archives.

Pretty much every other stoppage is just about as hasty. :yep

I think my main issue with the stoppage was the hesitation of the official to actually signal that the fight was over. At least five or six seconds elapsed before anyone really understood WTF was going on, which imo is completley unacceptable.

I agree, and he should have been given time to recover since he didn't go down - but to call this the worst stoppage of all time is just silly. You can't have seen much boxing to think that. (or your judgment is just very clouded here..)

Cite me a worse stoppage. . . You can't seem to cite me one either :huh

I seirously can't think of one that is that much worse than what we just saw in that fight. . . Nothing springs to mind. .

Calzaghe/Manfredo - no way in hell, cayuse Manfredo ate like 20 unanswered punches even if they weren't hurting him,and he was covered up. .

I think McCloskey should retire now. Surely wit his full time job and the boxing he is safe now (financially). Corley V Maidana please :)

If the guys on his feet, you give a few seconds for them to recover.

I did. Just because you said "nuh uh!" doesn't mean you've successfully refuted it.

Good for you. This has been a thrilling glimpse inside the mind of king khan. We've all been enriched by this experience.

"Ate"??:lol: Calzaghe threw maybe 20 unanswered slaps and maybe 9 even touched Manfredo. Most were blocked. And, that's kind of key here - Manfredo was blocking. He was never for the tiniest fraction of a second visibly hurt by anything Calzaghe landed.

McCloskey - albeit briefly - was VERY badly hurt.

Any stoppage where the person was never hurt at all is worse than this one. McCloskey was BADLY hurt. Get it through your head. Accept it, and move on.

Do you seriously not understand how Calzaghe vs. Manfredo was a far worse stoppage than this? :huh

WORST case scenario, and I mean absolute WORST case scneario here, he should have been given a standing 8 count, ESPECIALLY after the ref damn looked into his eyes, and he was jumping around like "WTF"?!

But he was just stunned for a tenth of a second - did a lil stanky leg, his head snapped up and wobbled a bit. . . and then was back bouncing on his feet, 100% lucid looking Corley DIRECTLY IN THE EYE.

I'm really not just being passionate because Im a Corley fan, I HONESTLY can't think of a worse stoppage? I'm sure there have been some, but who here really knows the entire 100+ year history of stoppages?

Yup i've seen far worse... just the other week someone was stopped while still throwing punches and didn't look nearly as hurt as McCloskey, having a memory lapse on what the fight was though

    This victory enhances Floyd's resume.
