Just to stop the dumb threads. Can Pac beat Floyd? Who knows until the get in the ring. I have no idea how you can compare Mayweather 's problem with a jab, and size to a guy without one. Would Pac also come in bigger than Floyd? I don't think so. To be honest I don't think Pac stops Cotto with 10 oz gloves either. Great fight for Cotto though
But he's got a great straight left down the middle and a good right hook, neither of which Cotto has. Not to mention a lot more speed and movement than Cotto
Jabs aren't as relevant with a southpaw against a conventional fighter. Manny has his own set of tools that can allow him to be competitive. Different fighters, different fight.
Pac pros and cons verse mayweather... Pros: 1) Nice powerful straight left. (Mayweather has been caught by this punch in the past by lesser opponents. Although Pac is not as fast as Zab in terms of 1 punch speed, Pac CAN land this. 2) Is quick on his feet. Pac has VERY fast foot movement, if he learned how to cut off the ring better this could be trouble. 3) Pac has underrated defense now. Yes, I said it. It's not the best, but he had pretty decent defense against Marquez. 4) He has good handspeed. This could trouble mayweather, as speedier fighters tend to give him some fits (delahoya zab...) 5) Good right hook (Although this punch won't be very helpful in a fight with mayweather) 6) Younger Cons: 1) Lacking Size/physical strength. 2) Lack of a Jab 3) Doesn't know how to cut off the ring (one of his biggest flaws) 4) Doesn't fight well on the inside (Marquez expliots this all the time) 5) leaping in and out of range. (this is not a good idea with a fighter like mayweather, who will absolutely time him with right hands) 6) Can be weak for the counter right 7) Doesn't go to the body enough. One punch isn't going to KO mayweather, we saw that against Mosley... who has more one punch power than Manny. Manny will have to be smart.
Different fight, different styles and a different night. Let Pac get passed Bradley so we can continue anout 6 months to a year or debating a fight that won't happen.
No he needs a Jab period. It's an important punch. Its the reason why Mosley was able to hurt Mayweather in the 2nd fight, it's the reason why Delahoya had success in the beginning of ther fight, and it is the reason why Cotto made some rounds difficult. Pac jumping in and out from mid range will get him counter punched heavily by the right hand as he puts himself out of position and leave himself wide open for the counter.
Doesnt need it, and he doesnt have to replicate Cotto. Pac is entirely different fighter.. and he'd give Mayweather all kinds of ****.
The fight tonight was a good fight for Floyd,but it was not good for his confidence to fight Pacman. If he could not hurt Cotto, I am not sure he would hurt Pacman who is faster than Cotto much greater and southpaw.
Pac has a damn fine Jab - not as strong as Cotto's since he doesn't fight with his power-hand forward. Pac has a killer right hook. Pac's left is a rock crusher.
