Why are some people saying that Mayweather-Cotto was close?

It was close. Only a ***** like you would say it wasnt. Cotto was obviously the stronger guy and was the aggressor. Floyd had a hard time with him, and had Cotto went out like a Rican King in the twelfth, we'd have a different winner.

 

Thats because the rounds were close. Floyd was winning most rounds but he did not dominate the fight as a whole.

I had it 8 to 4 Mayweather. At 35 Mayweathers
defense, precision, composure, intelligence, and chin
were impressive. Cotto has got heart, great fighter.

Scored it 9-3 but Cotto performed well.Made it competitive but couldn't land enough cleanly to take more rounds.Floyd started brilliantly but around the 5th seemed lazy or tired.Wondering was he fighting off the ropes to counter or make it entertaining but it was a bad move.
Bar a few sloppy rounds in the middle Floyd was in control.
People just get excited when they see Floyd get hit and Cotto do better than expected.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao and Alvarez vs Cotto would be nice fights at the end of the year.
