Are Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao realistically the only 2 to defeat Mayweather?

They both have similar styles, except Khan can use the jab well. If Floyd was to get in the ring with either fighter, who has the better chance of giving Floyd most trouble, even beating him?

Realistically, who else is out there who can give floyd trouble? Most of the fighters in the 147 division have the same slugger/brawler style. And we all know how Floyd copes with that style.

I respect your opinion, but would have to disagree. Cotto has always been the "heart on his sleeve, brawler/boxer" He doesn't just quit easily, but he isn't quick enough with his punches, and doesn't use angles, unlike both Pacquiao and Khan. Also, Mayweather hasn't really fought anyone with great speed, footwork, and workrate like Pacquiao or Khan. They won't tire out, and will go with Mayweather until the last bell. Once Floyd is in there with an opponent who has the footwork, work rate, speed, and power (more so with pacquiao, but Khan's power is sure to increase at 147 too), I think he'll be shocked.

 

Both are counter punching fighters. And I don't see Martinez coming forward in the fight, so Floyd would use his speed to beat Martinez. Martinez struggled in his last 2-3 fights, and that was against lower tier opposition. In my opinion, the style of Martinez is not fun to watch, but he's successful because he hasn't faced the best opposition out there. I think the Chavez Jr fight will be another tough fight for Martinez as well.

 

When Khan boxers and uses his head, he can beat the majority of opponents. But when he stands there trying to trade with a guy, and playing into the other guy's hands, that's when he makes it hard for himself. Khan has the ring IQ to defeat Mayweather, he just needs to stick to boxing and not slugging.
