I think Cotto showed his class last night, he showed boxing skills last night that many haven't credited in past. He busted Floyd's nose open and took more then two rounds IMO. His bodypunching slowed Floyd down, his full guard was fantastic taking a large portion of shots on gloves.

He sadly didn't have enough quality headshots to catch judges eye but tbh he wasn't gonna win on points in tight rounds and most round were closeish. Some he let slip away but Miguel can be proud he's shown his class yet again and the first man to make Mayweather fight for 12 rounds for a long while. Even hurt him a little in round 6 IIRC.

Pacquiao pummelled him. And I really don't buy that the weight made much difference.

Agree Mand' - I think there's a danger if people ending up like Colonel Bob with giving Floyd props, Cotto really should be credited for a fantastic performance. Really was a great version of Cotto we saw last night.

If it didn't why demand it?

Pacman is a great champ, but they weight drained Cotto.

They didn't weight drain Hatton, Clottey.

    :deal

The night i sat there upset as he took a beating off Pac, I would never of imagined Cotto would of pushed Mayweather to his hardest fight in years!. The man is sheer class!! Good fight and Cotto can move on with head held high.

He beats Alvarez IMO, Not sold on that kid..

Couple of things from scene article:

    - Mayweather hurt is hand in sparring and couldn't train properly in the week leading up to the fight.

    - Mayweather came to the ring weighing 147:admin

It did seem to me that Cotto was able to bully Floyd a bit at times.

How do you guys see a pacquiao-cotto rematch going at 154? Same as the first or would this cotto be able to make it a lot closer or win?

Cotto's a better fighter then the man Manny fought back then, He's got a proper trainer and he's developed over that time on some aspects of his game.

Plus i didn't know he was a heavy drinker up and till last few years, shocked me a little i know he beat the Uncle up but the drinking i never knew.

I think it's a closer fight, One i think Miguel would like on his terms.

Yea if pacquiao beats bradley and the floyd fight doesn't happen(which it won't). I wouldn't mind seeing this rematch as long as their are no weight stipulations on cotto,I didn't think I'd say that after the 1st fight.

Regarding that, I've always thought that Cotto would've pushed Pacquiao to the wire if not for that uppercut in the 4th. He never recovered from it and thus the beating ensued. Otherwise he'd have stayed in the fight imo, regardless of how useless Santiago was.

Pac's not going to fight Cotto at 154, no chance :-(. Cotto/Alvarez is the fight to make but I reckon GBP won't risk it just yet.

Also noticed that a lot of people gave Floyd EVERY close round last night. That's how we end up with cards like 10-2 Mayweather. People give Floyd a bit too much credit IMO.

I think I scored it 115-113 with Mayweather taking the last 2 rounds, mind you I could barely see at that point.
