McCloskey looked out on his feet to me. Corley was defiantly about to lung in and finish him off. Bad stoppage? Possibly. Corley had him going in and was about to unleash on him anyway.
On 2nd/3rd viewing I agree with the OP....McCloskey was completely out of it for a few seconds and it would have been dangerous to let Corley have what amounted to a free shot. Bazzer and McCrory in the studio summed it up about right IMO....Watt needs to get a ****ing grip.
On 1st viewing I thought it was poor,it wasn't as bad as I thought he would have got knocked out. My initial anger came from not making a decision on Corley stoppage at 4/1 couple rounds earlier.
With 30 secs to go in the round the Ref possibly saved McCloskey from getting badly hurt. McCloskeys defence was non-existant all night and had been taking some heavy shots. Corley may of nailed him a couple more big ones before the end of the round plus McCloskey had already what appeared to be a broken nose which was seeping blood all night, he was a mess!! It didn't look convincing from the Ref though he has peoples lives to look after. I respect the stoppage.
Erm..... Can't really criticise the referee there, McCloskey looked out of it for a good few seconds, Corley had a free shot which he'd probably have taken. Ray Mercer would have rugby tackled the ref out of the way and had it anyway :-(
I think Cooney against Norton is the worst one I've ever seen. Norton is basically sat as he would be during the minute interval, only unconcious.... and Cooney keeps teeing off on him, whilst the ref just does nothing until about ten punches land. I moan about British refs as much as anyone, but at least we'll never see that over here.
