I mean, your friends are talking about it ? People that aren´t real boxing fans talk about the fight ? Like if it was a huge Football or Baseball game ?? How many occasional fans watched the fight ? Did you see many of them ?? I just want to get an idea about the impact of this fight in US.......
Just out of interest, mate, but was this fight talked about in Brazil? Is boxing strong or weak there since Popo retired?
I can't talk for others, but this fight was very big in ME. Somewhere between the heart and the liver, I'd say.
Everyone was talking about it. Even lame ****s who never watch boxing at all. Pretty annoying actually. People on my facebook wall leaving comments in ****. Mother ****ers
No. People don´t know Floyd and Cotto.... For example. All my friends know that I´m a boxing fan and none of them knew about the fight or even know who is Floyd and Cotto......... Except one guy because I showed to him Cotto vs Margo once...but even this guy asked to me yesterday before the fight: "Hey...any good fight tonight?" Popó was famous and boxing at the time was a bit popular, just behind Formula 1 as a popular sport (football was and is the n.1 obviously)..... Boxing nowadays here is weak, very weak.....
ME is among US. Basically, US is a mixture of ME and YOU. If it ain't YOU, it's ME. That's how it works.
Oh I got it !! atsch I thought ME was a State or something......actually I was about to ask if ME was Michigan East side or something like that
It's a shame boxing isn't doing too well in Brazil. You've produced some great fighters in the past and I hope you produce more in the future. Boxing needs another Jofre! Over here boxing is strong. We don't have a huge star like Hatton or Calzaghe right now, but boxing is strong. The Mayweather fight wasn't as big as it usually is because it was on a new specialized boxing channel and it didn't get as much hype as usual. It was still on TV and in newspapers though.
ME is actually an abbreviation for the state of Maine, so you were also correct. In boxing circles the fight was mega, for casual boxing fans it was big........ Mayweather attracts a very eclectic group of fans, so his fights are always big....he has fans that love him for his skills, others or his celebrity stardom, and then those who hate him for it. The major thing is that his haters pay to watch him lose hoping to witness it, so in the end they contribute just as much as his fans do. A ticket, a PPV all make him money the same. I used to despise him for his out of the ring arrogance, but I am a fan now.
