How Big this Fight was in US ??

Just out of interest, mate, but was this fight talked about in Brazil? Is boxing strong or weak there since Popo retired?

 

I can't talk for others, but this fight was very big in ME.

It's a shame boxing isn't doing too well in Brazil. You've produced some great fighters in the past and I hope you produce more in the future. Boxing needs another Jofre!

Over here boxing is strong. We don't have a huge star like Hatton or Calzaghe right now, but boxing is strong. The Mayweather fight wasn't as big as it usually is because it was on a new specialized boxing channel and it didn't get as much hype as usual. It was still on TV and in newspapers though.

 

ME is actually an abbreviation for the state of Maine, so you were also correct. In boxing circles the fight was mega, for casual boxing fans it was big........ Mayweather attracts a very eclectic group of fans, so his fights are always big....he has fans that love him for his skills, others or his celebrity stardom, and then those who hate him for it. The major thing is that his haters pay to watch him lose hoping to witness it, so in the end they contribute just as much as his fans do. A ticket, a PPV all make him money the same. I used to despise him for his out of the ring arrogance, but I am a fan now.
