i think naturally left handed fighters who fight orthodox give floyd a lot of trouble very that very reason, they have good solid jabs. it seems like his fight with de la hoya and cotto (both natural left handed fighters) were very competitive. no doubt he won both, but they seemed to give him trouble at times. i know mayweather sr said a good jab is the key to beating floyd, so it's either that or junior middleweight is not the best weightclass for him. although it could be a combination of both factors.

I've forgotten how Pacquiao was using that left cross right down the middle, pretty cool.

Doesn't need to be original to be a great avatar. Something you have clearly missunderstood.

ONT: Styles makes fight. But I give Cotto for props for giving Mayweather some problems. Don't really think the weight that cotto had before the Pacquiao fight had anything to do with it. Just think he has a bad style for Pacquiao.

Cotto has one of the best jabs if not the best jab in boxing and he proved it last night . . . I hate to say it (because I am a fan of pacs . . . god, I hate when idiots talk stupid ****) that version of Cotto was better than the one that faced Manny. Cotto was in his natural weight and was coming off of his best career win rather than the worst beat down of his life. Lets not forget Margo, walked threw Cotto's jab and beat him into a pulp . . . does that make Margo's victor more sweet than Pac's?

EVERYONE has said that the key to beating PBF is having and using a great jab . . . is that what people say about Pac? People say the way to beat Pac is to be a great counter puncher . . . you figure it out

good post, he does have a good jab, but I think Pac's lead left could be even more effective. People have also said that Floyd tends to struggle a bit against southpaws so the "people said" bit isn't really all that solid

He has the most effective jab than any boxers from 140lbs-154lbs.

I've never seen someone have so much success with the jab against Mayweather. It makes sense, as Cotto is one of the best jabbers in the sport, and he had particular success in the sixth round using that shot. The last time Mayweather fought someone with a good jab was Hoya, and he was troubled by him too.

Nice, its always the lunging jab or the double jab (which i speculate could be one of their replies to the pull counter off the jab)

its not too flush as the connect's always during Floyd's retreat, but it seemed to do enough

Floyd preferred method of neutralizing the jab is his pullcounter. He doesn't do it much against guys who step in with their jabs like Oscar and Cotto(e). His solution then becomes outjabbing the jabber.

I said before this fight that Floyd's keypunch will be his own jab when many people were stuck in right hand heaven.

Floyd used 305 jabs. Cotto(e) 177. Jabbing with the jabber ended up working for him.

I was too busy watching the fireworks but did you happen to see if Floyd's jab was overpowering Cotto's later in the fight (ie. Cotto's jab rate declining)? It seemed to me as if Floyd was having the most success with the looping right outside Cotto's field of vision
