Cotto applied the educated pressure we have all talked about properly, but it wasnt enough against the greatest fighter of this generation.

Was actually really surprised that Cotto was able to hit Mayweather cleanly. He landed some nasty body shots on Mayweather that noticeably slowed him down beginning in the sixth round.

Cotto was strong and able to bully PBF a little in the clinch and on the inside. Cotto also did a great job cutting off the ring and cornering Floyd on the ropes, then working hard to not let him out without Floyd having to work for it. Then when he got him cornered he let his hands go, but even still I don't think he really landed a lot of clean shots but he at least put himself in position to look like he did. Also Cotto has great timing, which also paid dividends.

Then why did Cotto ask Margarito for a 150 pound catchweight?

    :think

Because Cotto makes 150 and can still fight wheras Margarito is a dead man at 150, 4lbs is a hell of a difference especially to Margarito.

... Cause Floyd is now on the spin and he is to prove that he can stand up to them and muscle them back as well as time then and of course, the chances of Cotto time and punch Floyd str8 back is as good as most. Just that Floyd does need to look impressive and he's taking more risks and so as Cotto found the right distance coming in, Floyd was tagged.

    He simply got within reach

Cotto was strong and pushed Floyd into the ropes, and kept his defense to sustain his offense when finding Floyd in the cornor especially.
He seemed determined and relentless until the end putting pressure on Floyd.

Floyd will say he ended up getting hit alot cause he was trying to knock cotto out.
Think he said that post fight actually.
Floyd getting older and Cotto's style and putting in a great performance on the night is probably main reasons.
