Floyd appeared to have Cotto badly stunned in round 12. The way Mayweather reacted, it was as if he realized he hurt Cotto, and it looked like it was an opportune moment for him to POUNCE and go for the kill. Floyd did not, however. Quite the contrary, he stopped throwing repeatedly and just basically looked at Cotto. Did anyone else notice this? If so, thoughts?
At that point, I think he knew he finished strong and in the dominant position. Showing he had plenty of stamina left, bouncing around, pot-shotting Cotto(e) and hurting him. I think he didn't want to take anymore chances.
Fair enough. Seemed to me Floyd realized he had an opportunity to finish it. You could see that "moment of realization" in his eyes, and then he just did nothing. Seemed to me he deliberately held back for one reason or another, but what the **** do I know. :smoke
He had him hurt badly, then pulled away, the is the opposite of the Floyd who wants to end you, compared to what he did in the Gatti and Corrales fight.
Your reaching, he wasn't hurt badly. MC got buzzed by a punch and covered up with a minute left.. That's about it. I bet you think he carried Baldomir too, right?
I wouldnt say carried him But I think he knew he had won and out of respect for Miguels performance and skills he didnt want to take chances he didnt need to in the final round
yeah, he eased up off of him. i think he realized he did enough to win the decision convincingly. it would been AMAZING if he got a 12th round KO tho.
No. Mayweather was aware that Cotto would punch back. He was also aware that he was way up on the score cards. (he was also aware that I'd bet a large amount of money on him to win on points)
He's safety first but he was turning up the heat; had he found some better openings he could have gotten a KD
