Why was Cotto so much easier for Pacquiao than he was for Mayweather?

Pacquiao is a fighter. If you get into a fight with Pacqiuao, you will probably get beat down. Cotto got into a fight with Pacquiao. Mayweather is a boxer, if you get into a boxing match with Mayweather, it's game over. Cotto got into a fight with Mayweather. Mayweather fought Cotto's fight. He wasn't as dominant as Pacquiao, but he still won pretty decisively. I thought Mayweather won 10 rounds-2.

So Mayweather, the boxer, got into a fight, and still won decisively. I mentioned that Pacquiao is a fighter. What happens when he gets into a boxing match? Well, he got into one against Marquez and many people thought he got a gift. It's all about stlyes. Pacquiao was more dominant against Cotto because that was a fight. Pacquiao is a fighter and that match played into his hands. Mayweather is a boxer. He played into Cotto's hands. The result was still a decisive victory, not a gift decision where most people thought he lost.

 

Pacquiao is a power puncher. Floyd is not. pacquiao had 8 ounce gloves. Floyd had 10.

And easier is subjective. Cotto landed 70 more punches against Pacquiao then vice versa, and threw 100 more. Cotto shattered Cotto's eardrum. Mayweather had a bloody nose.

Pacquiao is offensively better then Mayweather in terms of power. And Mayweather is defensively better then Pacquiao.

The questioon has always been is Mayweathers defense better then Pac's offense. And they question is still yes, given that Pacquiao recently got schooled by a 40 year old lightweight.

Who talking about Marquez... The only Reason he asked for the Catchweight was because your ***** boy didn't wanna meet in the middle @ 140 because draining didn't make sense against a smaller man.. the benefit was to get them as high as possible...

Also Pedro Diaz seems like a good trainer and likely helped make this a hard fight for Floyd.

 

People are praising Pedro Diaz here, and he's a huge plus to Cotto.

I think Joe Santiago was a much bigger nagative though.

 

Styles. Don't really mean much. Quite a few people before the fight knew Cotto wouldn't have as difficult of a time with Mayweather.

 

There are three universal reasons, which I think everyone can agree on:

Massive trainer issues.

145 pounds vs. 154 pounds.

"Styles make fights."

 

The little LW that came into the fight BIGGER than Pac? Marquez demanded a catchweight. This is a simple fact.
