Did Cotto shatter the Mayweather myth of H2H invincibility?

Floyd seems to get rated spectacularly highly on this forum when it comes to hypothetical h2h match-ups.

If you are one of the people who rated him in this way, has the Cotto fight changed your mind at all?

Floyd constantly gets talked about as being on an equal footing h2h with the likes of SRL, Hearns, Duran, Whitaker, Chavez, and so on. Based on the Cotto fight, I don't think he's quite in that league. Although this may be unfair of me, as most of those guys had tough wars with lesser fighters at one point or another too. I suppose I just fancied Floyd to win much more dominantly than he managed.

Anyway - changed perception, or not so? :bbb

Wow, Popkins I'm guessing your cum was dripping whilst watching the blood dripping from Mayweather's nose right?

I was at the fight and thought Mayweather gave Cotto a tremendous battle and made it close. After watching the replay that is not the case. Floyd is an absolute genius at not being hit and his counter punching and tactics were sublime.

In answer to your question - No!

Yep , this was like Castillo all over again, except Castillo actually won the first fight. The myth didn't get shattered but it got cracked. Pacquiao would shatter it.

He was never thought of as invincible, but this performance only helped him. He went up in weight and fought a guy who used a swarming pressure stlye that is supposed to be a nightmare for boxer like himself. Not only did Mayweather stand his ground, and stay on the ropes, which would seem to play into Cotto's hands, but he won decisively despite doing so. To give you some more perspective, go look at what guys like Whitaker, Chavez, and Leonard where doing at age 35. They were all considered shot at that age. Meanwhile, Mayweather is going strong. He's past his prime and still winning convincingly against world class fighters that pose stylistic problems.

well i agree, i think certain type of fighters can give him hell, cotto was also won of them- cotto lost the fight but thats the blueprint

I think pacman will beat floyd- the best floyd can do is to hug, jab, run, hug and maybe thats his only chance. :deal

if he tries to have this game plan, he will go to sleep!! i guarantee it!!:yep
