watching this fight with a bunch of mates, and it was very clear that the commentary team were so pro floyd it was just plain ridiculous. Its ok to be caught up in how good floyd is and pointing out when he did some great work.......but harly evr did they draw attention to what Cotto was doing. These are two of my favorite fighters and have been for many years, but the team calling the fight seemed to be priming everyone for a Floyd victory in advance. That made me wonder wether the scorecards had been filled out already:think A great fight by the now EX champion Cotto, and one of the toughest fights i have seen floyd in for many years. BTW.... I thought Floyd gave the 1st round away and he took round 8 or 9 off? anyway a score of 7 rounds to 5 to Floyd could have some merit considering the very close rounds should go to the Champion. and why did cotto walk away from the ring so quickly? did he think he had won?
I actually don't know anyone who gave Cotto the first round, that's odd. He out landed Cotto with jabs to the head and body and a couple of rights hands and Cotto didn't do much of anything.
Because two people can watch the same fight and come up with different winners, a computer scoring system is exactly what we need. Compubox might not be trustworthy because no one knows how it works, or who the people are who are counting the punches for it. So there could definitely be more ideal computer aided scoring systems set up.
I also find it odd that someone can give Cotto 5 rounds. But I suppose if you take away the first round he gave to Cotto, that's only 4 rounds. Still - I had it 118-110. Tough, gritty fight where Cotto gave it his ALL every second of every round. But Mayweather was still a class above and won most rounds. Showed his warrior mentality, and how much he truly loves being in a 'dog' fight.
115-113 Floyd. 116-112 is cool. Anything more is delusional! FLOYD could not figure Cotto out until the very end or until Cotto gassed
I rewatched it and gave Cotto rds 6 and 8 (clear rds for Cotto, IMO). It was not a close fight, IMO. But, it was competitive, in the sense that Cotto was never (from a physical and mental standpoint) out of the fight. He kept executing his gameplan. Floyd's gameplan (aided by his mid fight adjustments) was simply superior, though.
You seem to be on you're own. Most commentators, ringside reporters, other reporters and fans have it 117-111 or 118-110. A small few with 116-112 (or 117-112). Very few (most with an agenda) have it 115-113. What 5 rounds did Cotto win?
This.:deal One thing. Cotto shouldnt have stayed on the center of the ring coz it's where he gets clocked by floyd right hands. Cotto should at least ducked or weaved but nothing could he avoid the looping right hooks by Floyd. He should have pressured and tag in in the ropes where he have had successes in getting some rounds. Looking in the 12th, Cotto almost did the chicken dance, coz he was at the center of the ring.
It was VERY ****ing close! Alot of people scored it 7 rounds to 5 rounds for Mayweather... A few scored it a draw! I had it a draw..
I gave Cotto the same rounds. Some rounds were close, but Mayweather was just better for the most part and took them. I'm okay with 117-111 or 117-112. Slightly question 116-112, but won't argue. Anything closer, and they were watching a different fight (or again, have an agenda).
