It was non-existent in the Cotto fight. That along with his lead right hand was his bread and butter for his whole career. This is a great indicator that Floyd's speed, legs and reflexes have eroded even further. Just 3 years ago against Jmm, he looked cat quick. Landing dozens of leaping left hooks. So from here on out, i don't think you can expect to see this punch given that it requires a high level of reflexes, foot speed and speed.

    Thoughts?

I thought the Gloves being bigger/Thicker prevented him from penetrating through Cotto's tight defense since the gloves acted like a wide/thick shield. So the straight-right was basically thrown out compared to how much he has used it. He was hitting gloves to much early on.

    .

Floyd was throwing whatever could get around or in-between the gloves. The looping-right hook to get around and the uppercuts to get in-between.

yeah me and Sjs mentioned this before also about his leaping left hook and I also talked to jmp about the spring in his legs. He may want to look into getting a real strength and conditioning coach like Juan did all natural though

I'm with you 100%. Mayweather's legs aren't what they once were. He's lost that quick spring in them and that quick explosiveness. It's very clear that he's faded a lot since his prime days. I used to think he would be an over 40 marvel if he chose to do so, but I don't know anymore. Five years is a long time, especially in a punishing sport like boxing.

he did like 2 or 3 pull counters actually. I remember one of them though, Cotto was able to counter Floyd's right hand with his left hook. Me and my friend went  Cotto countered the pull counter

Yup. Another move that requires exceptional reflexes.

Overall, Mayweather is looking a lot more static and basic nowadays. He used to do things on his feet (in conjunction with his upper body movement and ridiculously accurate punching) that made my jaw drop. Those right hand leads and the duck/spin-outs around the fighter afterwards were unreal.

Did anyone just think he didn't do it cause Cotto's guard was always high and maybe, just maybe, there wasn't a clear shot?

His left hand was too busy pumping uppercuts right through Cotto's high guard, particularly in the second half of the fight.

cotto had his gaurd up well, and Cotto being a conventional leftie probly made him think twice.

but he can still fight that style and get away with 98% of the fighters. he will be ok even if he has indeed slowed down.

but if he went to face martinez, he would need them legs, he can win given the fact that sergio has alot of technical deficiencies but he can't fight like this vs sergio, no way

Jesus, I know it's Baldomir and all, but my jaw literally dropped seeing some of those moves right off the bat in this video. The reflexes were godly. 2011/2012 Mayweather looks borderline unrecognizable at times compared to a number of years back, let alone 130 pound Mayweather.
