Did you all not see the press conference. He said he wasn't going to throw lead right or hooks because that **** wasn't going to work. He threw 3 pull counters and that **** was fast. Have you ever thought that it's not mayweather losing a step but moreso having a deeper repertoire. He said it himself that he threw right hooks because boxer of today don't throw that punch and he knew it was going to work.
lol. what round was that shoulder roll when Cotto froze while doing his shoulder roll.:rofl:rofl:rofl that was hilarious.
Floyd throws his left from kinda a weird angle and I think he realized he couldnt land it against Cotto because Cotto keeps his guard up and on the side of the head. He had success with the right hook around the guard though.
Floyd threw his left hook. It wasnt landing. That wasn't a key punch for him in the fight. Cotto is good at keeping his right hand up, he doesnt get hit with left hooks that often. The right hand is the key punch.
I distinctly remember seeing one when he was on the ropes. It backed Cotto up in the middle of his combination which he initiated with a jab.
I did notice is that Floyd fixed the technique on his left hook He doesn't slap with it as much anymore and gets his elbow up
Yep, he didn't even attempt it and only went for the pull counter a couple of times but nothing special came of it. His lead right is still there though, he just favoured the hook over it, which tbh I thought a straight right would have been more affective despite Cotto having that big red blotch on his face.
missed with the left hook against shane and he got rocked roy missed with a left hook and tarver was already trying to counter it...if roy hits tarver with that hook ....tarvers punch big shot might have never hit roy or came in with the same steam.....same with the shot shane caught floyd on.....left hook didnt hit and the big shot came over it
i always thought that it wasn't floyds skills that made him good, but his physical gifts. take those away, and he's still good, but very beatable.
To an extent yes. If you watch the beginning of the Cotto fight, Mayweather looks pretty much like usual (watching it now). Reflexes, speed, legs, all that. His legs just don't quite last, IMO, the whole fight, so he should find a conditioning coach for that.
It should also be noted that his legs may have gone a bit due to Cotto's dedication to the body through the whole fight, which was a wise move.
Non sense. Cottos high guard and countering the lead right with a stiff jab. Though his high guard and stance left him wide open for the right hook, uppercut and jabs to the stomach.
Yeah Cotto wasnt fallin for the left hook or pull counter. He actually pull countered Floyd with a jab on occasion. Much credit to Cotto
